For six months I have been waiting for and dreading the dr appt I’m about to go into. I’ve lost sleep this week, dreading it. The dr seems to have no curiosity about why I live w debilitating symptoms, including chronic pain. I had an RA/PsA diagnosis, but that is in question. He’s full of anti fat bias and eye rolling when I discuss symptoms and ask for help. His nurse was just an absolute asshole to me. I want to cry and go home. #NEISvoid #ChronicPain #AnitFatBias

I’ve been really disappointed by people of my generation (I’m 54), who have started subtly or casually or lightly talking about the Gaza solidarity encampments as performative. I don’t know where they’re getting their news, but there’s incredibly deep and well organized activism happening. There’s something so painful about being surprised, again, by people who you thought were truly getting it, who aren’t.

My daughter's fiction workshop prof sent her a really long message (many paragraphs) saying her latest story was perfect, she had no notes, and just wanted to tell her all the things she loved about it. My daughter is OVER THE MOON. Her prof said she should be sending it out for publication everywhere. My daughter said, "like where?" when I said she should. So, I sent her a screen shot of me googling "where can I publish my short stories" and I HOPE SHE SENDS IT OUT! :-)

I almost said to my parents, "Did you know Hamas has offered to release all the hostages if Israel will immediately agree to a #CeaseFireNow?"

But my mother would've demanded citations and I wasn't prepared to pull them up. I know I've read about that, and how Israel refused.

I'm honestly close to bursting into tears going in an infinite loop of trying to get help from the IRS because my 1099 that I need to send to my ONE subcontractor keeps getting rejected. There are NO HUMANS to talk to and none of the voicemail prompts relate to my question. Googling and googling to see if I can find a way to talk to a human. No luck. Try this number? Are there any other prospects besides Biden?

I don’t think I can stomach it. I’m having fantasies/imagining a solid progressive (verging on “radical” to centrists) who would energize those of us whose stomachs are turned by Biden who would also be palatable for those who are okay with voting for Biden.

I know my saying, “I don’t think I can get myself to vote for Biden” is going to upset a lot of people who are rightfully afraid of Trump. I’m sorry to upset you.

1. what is #AltText?
2. why bother?
3. reads post from visually impaired person explaining they can’t enjoy posts w/no alt text.
4. occasionally adds a few words to the alt text field
5. sees more advocacy for accessibility (hello mastodon!)
6. always adds descriptions to images, stops reposting images without alt text
7. starts reminding other people to add alt text
8. checks alt text before reposting to make sure that it’s descriptive and not something as basic as “a hat“

If you use #Mint for your personal finance, you probably know by now that it's shutting down. I've switched to #PocketSmith (it's not free) and have "30 day free trials" to share if you'd like to check it out. (If you end up subscribing, I get 2 months added to my subscription.)

I'm finding it a little less intuitive than Mint and have had trouble syncing one of my banks, but otherwise I'm finding it a good replacement for Mint for what I need.

My older daughter’s friend (her high school boyfriend) got arrested in a protest for a ceasefire in Gaza. He’s at Brown University and they are demanding that Brown divest from Israel, I believe? Not totally sure. But the picture of his arrest is all over twitter now.
