I'm really different because I use Emacs. 🙃
Also, I live in France but I'm originally American from California.

@summeremacs Have you tried Prot's ef-summer theme? I've been using it a few days and really liking it. It uses many shades of pink and feels very inviting. I use a light theme during the day and a dark theme at night and am currently pairing ef-summer with the ef-winter dark theme. Anyway, I saw this lovely pink theme with "summer" in the name and immediately thought of you. Wait a second: is it named after you?!

summeremacs,
@summeremacs@fashionsocial.host avatar

@oantolin Prot literally made ef-summer for me with my input, and then the rest of the ef-themes followed after that. Ya, it's named after me. 🙃

@oantolin I do! https://0x0.st/HRiD.txt

I did it for you from my phone cuz I have config via icloud. 🤣

Hi everyone. 👋

I know, it's been ages and ages. I've been super busy doing tons of stuff. Lately, I've been a lot and trying to get things done while I'm on the plane. I have a few places I chat at, so this one had to take a back seat for a long while. I'll try to say hi more frequently though. 🙃

In the meantime, if you like Emacs, and you like pink and cute things, this is for you:

I use it as my App icon as well as on my dashboard. 🙃

Good morning everyone! Bonjour tout le 🌍! ☕ 🥐🥝🌇👩🏼‍💻

No updates this morning either because I'm installing MacOS Sonoma! 😁🍎💻🖥️

I actually downloaded the installer (see, I'm a lot better with computers. now) instead of doing it via the system preferences panel for each one. This way I only had to download it once and can install it on each machine.

See you on the other side!

summeremacs,
@summeremacs@fashionsocial.host avatar

@mykhaylo It went off flawlessly. It's just doing the background jobs now. Emacs works 100% tho I did have to rm recentf, but 100% after that. I really love this new OS look and feel so far. It looks incredible on my screens!

So far, no complaints. 🙃

summeremacs,
@summeremacs@fashionsocial.host avatar

@mykhaylo Yea I just had that tiny Emacs startup problem but I figured it out in like 2 seconds, force-quit it, did an rm on that file, and then started it up. It's really working perfectly. Tho after installing I did let it run for like 30 mins to do background stuff cuz I know how important that is.

I just asked a question on :

https://www.reddit.com/r/emacs/comments/16hno3f/send_marked_textbuffer_to_kindle/

Does anyone know of a package that sends marked text/a buffer in Emacs directly to your kindle email address? Can be via mu4e or whatevs. I know I can export it as a doc and send but you have to go through a couple of hoops for that and I'm wondering if an Emacs package could do it instantly.

@mykhaylo Thank you! Between you and @xenodium I'll have to check out what works best for my workflow. Thank you guys so much!

Next to last, we have a demonstration of table calculations in Emacs! Only, I don't have to keep track of my weight loss, but I do have to keep track of other little things sometimes and it might be handy to learn this stuff for THAT kinda thing.

Update: I fixed it.
I had Jinx, Hunspell, and Flyspell going off at the same time. For some reason, "I've" is "incorrect" in the British dictionary? I just took out Jinx and Flyspell (disabled it) completely and I'm just using Hunspell for now. We'll see if that works. I have 3 dictionaries on it: en_US, en_GB, fr (for French).

summeremacs,

@dekkzz76 I was using it like that for a little while this morning before leaving for most of the day. It def works. Also installed language tool and writegood-mode for good measure. 🙃

Pro-organization tip: (I always forget to mention this)
If you have more than one agenda file in Emacs, like I do, at the top of each one, you can add:

#+category:

And instead of adding just a word, you can add an emoji. For example, my reading list has a 📰. My home list has a 🏡. My emails list has a 📬.

So when you do a ‘C-c a a’ for agenda, it will show those icons in the left hand column and you can quickly visually identify them as you sort through your plans.

Yesterday, I was trying to fix my in to work with my and local files. I wanted it to trash files locally to the trash, but delete them on the server. Well, what did I find?

Emacs 30 (which I'm using) has two variables. Here's my setup:

(setq delete-by-moving-to-trash t) ;; For moving to trash locally

(setq remote-file-name-inhibit-delete-by-moving-to-trash t) ;; For Tramp deletion

This is apparently only for 30+. now works as expected. 🙃

@ctietze Well I'm using 30 with d12frosted's Emacs which you can install with brew and I haven't had any problems with it really. So why not give it a try?
