My dad spouts weird random stuff, too. I’m not sure how much of it he has made up versus gotten from somewhere, but sometimes I’ll hear more of a saying, which makes it make sense. Like when something becomes clear to him, he says, “ ‘I see,’ said the blind man.” It never made any sense but was just one of those things you take in stride as a kid. In recent years, I learned it’s a common saying with a punchline: “. . . and then he picked up his hammer and saw.”

Murph had mites, but all I could find was flea-and-tick foam (leave-in, with peppermint essential oil and eugenol). I hope it does the trick. He loved the attention at first, so I got most of him lathered before he decided he didn’t like it, which I think is the first time he’s ever retreated from me. He seems to have forgiven me, though: he still slow-blinked me. At least he and my hands smelled good afterward, and maybe the peppermint will help his congestion, too. 🤞🏼

Gifs and videos don’t play for me on Mastodon. Anybody else have this problem? I’ve just shrugged and not worried about it, but it would be nice if they worked. I’m using Ivory with an iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 17.

I can't tell if it's the Ambien or the nail polish fumes, but I do believe I've got a case of the "I must lie downs". Will snuggle with my son, Gato - the cat I birthed from my very own wombless body - for a bit, and then trundle off to bed. Goodnight all you wonderfully weird and interesting and lovely people. I hope a circumstance someday arises when I can hug and/or fist-bump each and every one of you.

I can't remember if I've mentioned it before, but there is this Thoreau passage, from his journal, that I've been thinking about for years. I can't remember exactly the phrasing but I've got this mental image of what he was saying that I love. But because I read him so much, and also because my attempts to locate the passage have been (thus far) unsuccessful, I am not quite sure it was actually something he said. It seems at times like it was something I dreamed inspired by him perhaps...
