Though I started out on Universeodon and supported them through Patreon, I fully support calckey.social defederating from them.

The enthusiasm their admin @supernovae is showing for joining up with Meta is both disappointing and very concerning.

There will soon be two Fediverses: one with Meta in the middle of it like a giant bilge-spewing cruise ship parked in a once-sleepy harbor, and one Fediverse without Meta. "Soon" may turn out to be "this week".

@blkgoddess Great point. For anyone who likes the mass efforts of charities, though, CharityWatch.org and CharityNavigator.org do a good job of rating them based on multiple factors.

Just got a long screed (by DM, naturally) from someone whose complaint seems to be that I "think [I'm] right". No explanation of what I'm wrong about.

Of course I think I'm right. If I didn't, I'd change to thinking something else, which would take us back to where we started, with me thinking I'm right again.

When you give someone advice, I encourage you to take a moment first and consider whether you’re actually speaking to yourself. So many people I know who tell others “slow down” are themselves stressed. Those who tell others “speak up” are often anxious. I’ve found more often than I’d expect, advice I’m saying aloud to others is better first given to myself.

This advice itself gets very circular and meta when applied to this toot.

@jonobie One thing I realized before I left the US to travel the world was that people warned me about things THEY were afraid of. That was worse than useless (detrimental) paranoia. The real people to trust were locals I initiated contact with (not people who initiated contact with me, unless I REALLY got a good vibe off of them).

If autistic people don’t like physical touch, eye contact, or deep/intense conversations, how do you deal with falling in love and having romantic relationships? I understand that everyone is different, so assorted individual takes might paint the truest picture.

🤣 Yep, everybody’s different! Gotta figure out what each person likes and dislikes and to what extent we like our dislike those things and how they handle our likes and dislikes and if it’s the right balance. I find it bewildering, too.

So last night was (for me) a night off with my hobby. For about 13 hours I got to enjoy the night sky at its best. It started with a moonset to die for! The colour of sunset was magnificent and I managed to spot the 4% illuminated moon descending towards the southern alps.. Gosh, the night got better and better
