OH heard a lot of grunting outside our kitchen window in the middle of the night. On looking to see, turns out it was two hedgehogs "very much in love" 😄💕

Seems there might be a family of hedgehogs soon 🤗

I think maybe the best tribute I can make to my mom (other than to mention how decent, how sweet, how respectful to others she was), is to show you pictures of our garden.

She was an artist, but also a gardener. She somehow instilled both of those things in me, so that twenty-three years after she passed and 3000 miles away, we have a nice garden. I think of her often when I’m working in it.

Her garden was full of roses, boxwood, azaleas and wildflowers. I wish I had pictures of it to show you.

Well, if this isn't one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen...

This stone isn't finished yet, but it felt particularly important to see it as it was being carved.

Urdu, the language of my grandfather, memorialised in Scottish sandstone. And somehow, within the words, within the stone his presence and his experiences memorialised too.

Walking in the city at night without fear, sustainable #PublicTransport, wider foot and cycle paths in the immediate vicinity to make it easier to "zigzag" throughout the day, or better lighting - women would do a lot of things differently when it comes to #UrbanPlanning.

🧵 1/5 I often feel the need to start a blog ‘Against polarisation’.

Example: I come home from mowing. My TL is full of calls to stop mowing. This activism is good and important. BUT...

Those who have other needs are often bullied. People in SocMed often don't listen to different thoughts anymore.

I just mowed a far too high meadow in order to promote biodiversity. How so?!?
We had extreme weather. Two early hot summer phases have allowed plants to flourish that hold down anything less robust.

@NatureMC Thank you, great thoughts! Polarisation is one of the worst things in societies and social media, too, of course. Maybe it's about feeling insecure about things, so people tend to choose a side to have some company or understand at least this side. Sometimes you feel somehow muted and not heard at all by someone with a strong opinion. So you don't even try to take part in the conversation anymore. The shouting gets louder, even here.

Heute bin ich mit einem Infostand zum Thema Datenschutz und IT-Sicherheit beim Medienaktiv Festival in der Bielefelder Stadtbibliothek. Am meinem Stand können Kinder z.B. ein Datenschutz-Memory spielen und üben, wie man ein sicheres PW erstellt.

In order to upgrade my qualification and also be an English teacher I've signed up for a basket of different courses in language and literature, from different universities.

I'm not worried about the studying - but I'm dreading having to log into and navigate six different kinds of university intranets.
