Iranian media report a helicopter carrying President Ebrahim Raisi has been involved in an accident in East Azerbaijan Province and some of his companions in the helicopter "managed to make contact with the center." https://www.iranintl.com/en/202405197603
@w7voa had to look at the source after seeing how positively these the dead president and the interim president were covered, and yes, of course it's an equivalent of russia today, but from iran, totally state controlled https://www.conspiracywatch.info/en/brieffing_notes/press-tv/
@randahl are these homes where people need them? it's not the most fungible asset. homes in areas with low economic activity are almost worthless, homes are in demand where jobs are.
Of course, there are certainly people sitting on homes others would love to live into, but these numbers are probably much less crazy.
I'm working on removing an important spreadsheet from Google Docs, and maintain that in LibreOffice.
Thing: In G Docs I wrote a few macros to sort the file in various ways, using 4 and 5 fields.
Libre Calc only allows 3 sort fields, and the G-Doc macros don't work in Libre Calc.
I've written a #Python program to convert a CSV to a file with fixed length, and writing a #COBOL program to do the sorting for me.
Sorting multiple columns in Python is a PITA. In COBOL it's laughably simple.
I wish something like the IBM S/34 #GSORT would exist for Linux. That would make this even simpler.
A few times, but it's not something i insist much on, i tend to see the opposite problem, rather.
Significantly
I try to clarify on what "premature" means, that is, not going for the dumbest solution that could possible work, no matter how inefficient it is, but not going overboard about implementing overly complex ones until you get a real sense of where the bottlenecks are going to be, usually using profiling, but also still do design so your solution scale to the need.
in git, what ways are there to "lose" a commit in a way that you CAN'T recover using the reflog (so that you need to iterate over every single commit in the repository if you want to find it?
The only ways I know (using git's normal tools) are:
using git stash drop or git stash pop to drop a stashed commit
waiting 90+ days to try to recover the commit (so that it expires from the reflog)
explicitly deleting the reflog in some way (rm -rf .git, git reflog expire, etc)
so. in January I was in a bad car accident. fractured spine, ruptured discs, cracked pelvis, broken arm. last 4 months have been v hard. tonight though I'm going back to my adult dance class for the first time. I wasn't sure I'd ever even walk properly again so this is a moment for me. a good one
Cross-examination of #MichaelCohen resumes, an opportunity for the defense to poke holes in his testimony & perhaps trip up or provoke the state’s key witness. The questioning of Cohen, #Trump’s fmr fixer, is the beginning of the end of Trump’s #criminal trial, which began April 15 & might conclude before Memorial Day weekend at this pace.
@GottaLaff NFL, no it's fucking not, do we have to believe everything we are told? are we never mistaken in our believes? And that's a high profile lawyer? The best people, really.
@kotaro it’s a form of organization that indeed allows and relies on violence, i agree it only allows for peace if we value it enough to reward it and punish violence through market pressure, which people on the worst of the violence usually don’t have the power to apply. And even large enough groups of people have a hard time organizing against it because pressures applied individually to them discourage it. But i think terfism is a highly minority opinion among self-declared feminists.
