Until I hear a really good reason for Texas and California teaming up in Alex Garland's new "Civil War" movie, I'm going to side eye it, much as I like him as a filmmmaker.

virtualbri,
@virtualbri@mastodon.online avatar

@Justin Yeah, exactly.... 😀

virtualbri,
@virtualbri@mastodon.online avatar

@stevenrosenthal Yeah, which seems rather tone-deaf for a movie about a literal civil war in the United States.

"Slay the Princess" is a fun visual story. Worth a play for a fun narrative experience. Fun look and fabulous voice acting. A rare "story" game I want to replay to see all the branches I might have missed.

Anyway hoping to catch the new transfer before year's end

I think fans might enjoy it, since we've used some of their ships on

I knew anything by Maria Bamford would be good, but the audiobook of her book is pretty spectacular.

And Zazlav wanted to dump it for tax credits. Astonishing.

If you dump a creative work like this for taxes, the work should get released into the public domain.

are you OK?

Isn't a "trampoline creator" someone who makes trampolines?

So Kate Bond had questions about the AI provisions in the SAG-AFTRA tentative agreement, and wisely asked Jeff Bennett, SAG-AFTRA general council about them.

Now they have shared the replies here, and it’s worth clicking through and swiping through the images to see the questions and answers if you too have questions about this:

@davidaugust Kate's a smart cookie and a great creative herself. This is good info to know.

🤣 The way they set Lightning Lane up for The Little Mermaid is so tacky. It's goes to show it was something the higher ups demanded without thinking about the logistics.

@troy At DCA it rarely has a big line and is a people eater. Does that really need to be a LL ride at all?

Aw, I really enjoyed this show. If it takes more than 2 seasons to finish your story, Netflix is not the place for you.

Heck, finish in 1 really unless you're a crazy success.

Remember the reduction of shows and movies were going to happen anyway, since studios were spending like drunken sailors on projects they mismanaged long before these strikes.

People blaming this on new WGA or SAG rates should be given the side-eye. Many will use this as an excuse, just like the companies that raised prices during the pandemic because they could, not needed to.

virtualbri,
@virtualbri@mastodon.online avatar

Honestly, I don't know the spending habits of drunken sailors, they could actually be more fiscally prudent than an exec starting a streaming channel.

virtualbri,
@virtualbri@mastodon.online avatar

@brianvastag Yes, or shows like Baz Luhrmann's "The Get Down", which spent 120 Million of their 90 Million dollar budget to deliver 11 episodes of the expected 13.

We all remember that show right? Classic work of all time? No? No recollection? Nearly crushed a few companies trying to address notes on it?

virtualbri,
@virtualbri@mastodon.online avatar

@brianvastag Yeah, it was a nightmare to work on. But it looked cool and had interesting story elements.

virtualbri,
@virtualbri@mastodon.online avatar

@brianvastag Heh, some are more fun than others! Star Trek is a lot of fun actually, even the hard parts.

virtualbri,
@virtualbri@mastodon.online avatar

@MattMerk @CStamp @brianvastag That's fantastic!

virtualbri,

@tptigger Oh yeah, the whole "Look what the actors and writer's have caused" was instantly an accusation as soon as the strikes started.

@mikey @gaghyogi49 His company had an unbelievable amount of props you'd recognize.

Outside that one, you'd see his handheld PKE meter from Ghostbusters all over the place for example.
