@Rapidcreek so the guys that appraised Trump's properties in the fraud case are covering his bail? Well at least now we know what premium Trump paid for the bail: he paid with keeping their dirty secrets.

@chronicledmonocle @Rapidcreek too bad he's busy running on GOP talking points when it comes to immigration. Yet another self-inflicted wound.

@FonsNihilo @kescusay this is painfully true. I remember some well meaning techies wired up an entire lab for the school district once, included free repurposed PCs running Linux. Didn't take long before the district paid HP to take all of it away and give us the crappiest speced machines tax money could buy. But hey, that deal gave the football team money to AstroTurf the field (with a donation from HP)🤦‍♂️

I think this will probably prove true. Once AI based coding has been perfected, it’s hard to imagine programming being a worthwhile skill to acquire given the expense of time and discipline to learn it. There are much better uses of our time. Dreaming up the new applications to be coded will be a thing. A big thing

I hate how likely this is the case.

Apple’s journaling app! (If I’m trapped in a “walled garden” might as well check out the plants.) The app uses location, photo and other data to suggest events to journal about— The photos help jog memory & make writing less daunting.

I hope that more apps make use of the api — although wouldn’t it be nice if it were an open “event” protocol instead? (and if one could export journals to, tumblr)

I think this app could really help many people I know with memory and organization issues.

@futurebird @lambic been thinking about local first networks where the Internet is not available but a local digital library and social network is available to those who join the local wifi. This does give the finger to Google but the primary goal is to give unhoused and unprivileged neighbors more digital access and involvement. Was thinking how nextdoor requires a mailing address and how many unhoused people are excluded from the community they're in as a result.

@slamp @cheukting_ho I like this idea of "supporcracy" . Been thinking about what would be superior to capitalism for a nation-state and was thinking instead of a system that maximizes production, have a system that maximizes productive capacity. The framing of these slides of doacracy/meritocracy vs supporcracy hints we should not be maximizing productivity but capabilities (ie productive capacity)

Jaywalking is a made-up crime created by car company lobbyists to make it more appealing to drive than to walk.

In WA, all intersections are already crosswalks, but using an unmarked crosswalk is dangerous because drivers either don't know or don't care. 90% of what is perceived as "jaywalking" actually happens at legal crossings; the rest is on intentionally hostile roads, often in poor neighborhoods

It should be drivers' responsibility not to hit pedestrians, period.

@eyrea @lauren @tess I have nightmares from when I hit a pedestrian at an "unmarked cross walk", so I think a lot about "what could have prevented this". I would say cross walks that exist in zones above 25mph should be marked. Above a certain speed lighting should be required. And if there are many lanes, a cross walk light of some fashion should be required. Maybe some of these ideas are dumb, but I'm trying to encourage us to think of behavioral solutions that are not punitive.

@BlackAzizAnansi depends if the workers have their own back channel to coordinate. ie do they have a discord server not managed by management

    Here we go again.

So I post my approval of Schiff (and apparently Porter too) coming out in favor or expanding the court, etc (see toot), and here, and on Threads, I’m seeing, “Not gonna happen. Not feasible…” etc.

    Miss the point much?

    1. We need MoC who support things like this in order to EVER make them happen. Rather they didn’t say this? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Tell me, do Israeli civilians kidnap women and babies?

    No, we do not.
