@thelinuxcast This happens a few times a year, when some major dependency down in the guts of the stack gets updated. And everything that links to it gets rebuilt up the stack.
Well. Seems I have to reinstall #OpenSUSE#Tumbleweed. I tried restoring as many of my custom #KDE theme settings as I could remember before retrying to upgrade to #Plasma6. It didn't help. Colors being screwed I get, but why are so many things are straight up missing. Volume widget? BT widget? Whole sections in the Plasma Settings are just gone. ???
Working fine from here (West Coast US) as of 1019 PDT 24-Nov, but status.opensuse.org is still reporting major issues with the mirrors. (although it looks like that report was last updated on the 14th.)
@governa I mean, the geeko isn't going anywhere, it just makes sense to get some independent branding for the various products coming out of the openSUSE Project.
I think I will start a thread here as a sort of diary.
Starting at #FrOSCon, I have started to try #openSUSE on my laptop. As a #Debian Developer, I felt reluctant to try something else, and Debian is a great project.
However, as I am teaching openSUSE at Linuxhotel, I thought I should maybe get more familiar with it 🤣. Also, I had already fallen in love with #zypper.
If you are keen in following the pros and cons I discover, take a seat!
@frigidcode It's not something I'm likely to have to deal with, but as I've been in the openSUSE ecosystem for over a decade now, I'd probably be talking to somebody at SUSE about one of their offerings, with a preference for a product like SLE Micro, for individual server setups, or Rancher for distributed stuff.
Finally got #opensuse how i like it, after "debloating" it (and accidentally deleting sddm in the process, oops) and reinstalling almost everything as flatpaks, its finally done.
There are easier ways to do what you just did, although I would argue that most people haven't a clue what they're talking about when they say something is "bloated"
@gnuplusmatt The closest you're going to get is openSUSE Leap. Which is mostly identical to SLE. (I don't actually know what the fundamental differences are on your basic install)
