Kbin Enhancement Suite (KES) now working on iOS

Hi kbin users. @shazbot has been working on resolving iOS issues today, and I can tell you that it now works. I'm just a user and know nothing of the scripting these people are doing. I just understand plug and play, along with various settings of apps on my phone. So, for all iOS users you can now enjoy KES settings....

2tapry,

nginx

Not sure why others are suggesting a Raspberry Pi and nginx would cause problems? I run three public facing websites on a single Raspberry Pi 4 with 2GB RAM. Has been working flawlessly for 2 years. Typical uptime is measured in multiple months.

Running Wordpress, fail2ban and certbot. Booting and running of a USB drive - have considered SSD but no need as I cache to RAM for performance.

TotallyNotAMurderer,

This is the template trigger code I use in my automation. Automations triggers and ramps up lighting 5min before phone alarm goes off.

The template checks the current time/date at the start of ever minute (the bracketed bit formats the current timestamp) then checks to see if current time matches my next alarm time formula and triggers automation if it does match.

The next alarm formula gets the (time to) next alarm in milliseconds, devides that by a thousand to make it seconds then, subtracts 300 (= 5 minutes) then prints that formula to a time stamp formatted the same as the current time stamp (for it to compare against)

This is for an Android phone and using the companion app sensor for ‘next alarm’. # is to be replaced with users own name/entity. Not sore how much of this translates to an Amazon thing but, hopefully give you a bit of an idea of how to perform it once you find the right entity?

{{now().strftime(‘%H:%M %Z %a %d %h %Y’) == (((state_attr(‘sensor.#USER#_phone_next_alarm’, ‘Time in Milliseconds’) | int / 1000 | int - 300 )) | timestamp_custom(‘%H:%M %Z %a %d %h %Y’))}}

Not sure if I agree with him (or rather, pretty sure I disagree). The protest was very successful for me - it got me off the site, and I have no plans of going back, even if it fully opens and goes back to "normal". In my case, reddit is not winning, it completely lost. I see more people like me around here every day and it makes me happy. Can't remember lat time reddit made me happy, so I'm enjoying the change, even if it comes with a fair bit of jank.

OC Game Spotlight: Deep Space D-6

I recently stumbled upon an amazing print-and-play game called Deep Space D-6, and I couldn't wait to share it with you all. This solo dice game takes you on an exhilarating journey through the depths of space. Strap in and prepare for an interstellar adventure like no other!...

/kbin - a few quick announcements

Good morning! :) Today I want to focus mainly on reviewing the pull requests you've submitted. There are many great things there that will help improve the kbin experience. That's amazing, thank you! I'm also in the final stages of sorting out the infrastructure-related formalities. Soon, the situation with the website's...

Kichae,

Microblogging is just a whole other beast, and as someone who grew up on messaging boards, the digg/reddit/lemmy/kbin style content aggregator sites make sense to me. Microblogging feels like the comment section to an article that was never posted.

I've gotten some traction on Mastodon the last few days as I've posted information (mostly from Twitter and Reddit) about a local wildfire, but this has been the first time I've ever used a microblog for posting "top level" stuff. And I'll be stopping once the fire stops being a threat.

Posts, with topics and replies, just seem like the natural order of things to me, and I've been waiting with baited breath for the Fediverse corner for this style of site to hit some kind of critical mass.

Spacebar,

Reddit is too popular now. They're going to have an IPO eventually and then it will really go down hill.

Might as well get on the ground floor of something new.

m_talon,

I'd rather crawl the 20 extra miles to a new community (and did) than use that app again. It's that bad. The reviews on Google Play are very telling. It's just a buggy mess.

@Melody As a reddit mod, it made my life easier, because I stopped being a mod

@hedge

_NetNomad,

it was a nice try but i just don't see a market for a centralized mastodon clone

dessalines,

Same, we've been getting a lot. I welcome every single one of reddit's bad decisions :)
