🇬🇧 The #meteor flew very visibly over #Portugal. Conditions were great for observing such a phenomenon. The beautiful effect was (accidentally) captured by many people. I recommend taking a look at #Reddit and watching some videos.
🇵🇱 Meteor przeleciał bardzo widocznie nad Portugalią. Warunki były świetne do obserwacji takiego zjawiska. Piękny efekt udało się (przypadkowo) uchwycić przez wiele osób. Polecam zajrzeć na Reddit i obejrzeć kilka filmów.
This is a #lisp machine for network protocols. Initially in pursuit of a social forum focused on link sharing.
as #startups and free projects alike rush to implement some #IETF RFC adding only 'but on the web'. I aim to define a modular protocol server which can support an arbitrary number of network protocols as a network daemon. Our POC in this endeavour will be to build an #NNTP -like protocol daemon which gateways to #IPFS storage. The content held in this system can be consumed by arbitrary clients; a web application presenting #reddit -like services would be just one of many potential clients, although it is likely that Gnus for Emacs will be the first one. https://codeberg.org/fade/callisto
#OpenAI strikes Reddit deal to train its AI on your posts https://www.theverge.com/2024/5/16/24158529/reddit-openai-chatgpt-api-access-advertising
“Reddit has become one of the internet’s largest open archives of authentic, relevant, and always up-to-date human conversations about anything and everything. Including it in #ChatGPT upholds our belief in a connected internet, helps people find more of what they’re looking for, and helps new audiences find community on Reddit,” #Reddit CEO Steve Huffman says.
I came across this #Reddit family drama from one of those narration YouTube videos and reading all of the original posts spanning several months was pretty bonkers! I don’t care if the story was an exercise in creative fiction or actually real because I was totally entertained. 😅
OpenAI Strikes Reddit Deal To Train Its #AI On Your Posts
Reddit gets access to OpenAI’s tech for building AI features, and OpenAI gets real-time access to Reddit posts that feed into ChatGPT. #OpenAI has also signed up to become an advertising partner on #Reddit.
It’s an agreement similar to the one Reddit signed with #Google earlier this year that was reportedly worth $60 million.
»OpenAI darf Reddit-Daten nutzen:

»Lemmy and Kbin: The Best Reddit Alternatives?
Love #Reddit but tired of what's happening to it? We check out #Lemmy and #Kbin, two open-source fediverse #alternative's that are growing fast.«
Le regole erano sempre state chiare? E allora inutile lamentarsene ora #ownyourdata#ownyourweb https://www.ilpost.it/2024/05/17/reddit-accordo-openai/
‘#OpenAI has struck a deal with #Reddit to use content from the social media platform for its artificial intelligence chatbot, sending shares in the company up as much as 15 per cent in after-hours trading.’ https://on.ft.com/44NGYmn
OpenAI strikes Reddit deal to train its AI on your posts
"OpenAI has signed a deal for access to real-time content from Reddit’s data API, which means it can surface discussions from the site within ChatGPT and other new products."
#OpenAI#ChatGPT#Copyright#IP#Reddit: "OpenAI, a company that has indiscriminately scraped the internet and vast amounts of knowledge and creative works created by humans to build a company valued at roughly $80 billion, has made what Reddit described as a copyright complaint against the ChatGPT subreddit because it uses OpenAI’s logo.
Moderators of the subreddit posted a screenshot of a message that they said they had received from Reddit. The message reads “Hello Mods, We have received a copyright complaint from openai.com alleging unauthorized use of their copyrighted logos in r/ChatGPT. The 'subreddit profile image' does make use of the copyrighted content, which can lead to user confusion: please address the unauthorized copyrighted elements by May 16.” The message goes on to say that the moderators need to remove the OpenAI logo from the subreddit profile and reply to Reddit confirming that the logo has been removed." https://www.404media.co/openai-files-copyright-claim-against-chatgpt-subreddit/
So I have been a part of this community for a while and it seems pretty quiet. I know Lemmy is not as big as Reddit so this community will always be much smaller but I kind of miss the activity on r/sysadmin. Infinity for Reddit still works for view only so I have been scrolling though posts on Reddit as some of the stories and...
Reddit brings back its old award system — ‘we messed up’ (www.theverge.com)
The company said it’s golden upvote system “missed the mark.” (Bwaahahahaha)
