Y'all know I'm not big on black metal, but being that it's Monday and I keep coming back to this one, it's probably a good one for #BlackMetalMonday.
LUST HAG is a solo project of Eleanor Harper - it's one woman feral black metal from Montana and it's pretty cool. There's some great synths and dynamics and interesting lyrics, etc.
Black metal fans, this is probably worth checking out.

Finally got around to listening to Dvne. This album kicks ass. Very solid sludgy prog/post metal. The drums 🤤🔥 The sound quality overall is fantastic. Clarity without being clean, there's a lot to pick through. Texture/tone is warm, full, and punchy with a moderate distortion, I think its really pleasant and one of my favorite sludgy elements. Solid vocals that stand out, reminds me a bit of The Ocean. Thoroughly impressed. This is AOTY material.
For anyone who's heard any of these (my current top 5 metal albums of 2024), curious to know your favorite (and if you haven't heard one or more, I highly recommend them).
Niewiele nowego słuchałem w poprzednich dwóch tygodniach, a jeszcze mniej z tego, co słuchałem, mogę polecić. Tym niemniej, są dwie gorące nowości, które warto osłuchać, jeśli lubicie black lub death metal.
Blaze of Perdition, album "Upharsin"
Nigdy nie byłem fanem BoP, choć szanowałem ich muzykę. Jednak bardzo lubię zespół, który poprzez członków bardzo łączy się się z BoP, a więc Manbryne. Także sprawdziłem "Upharsin" i już na wstępie dostałem wp@#$%ol, gdyż od razu zaczęły się blasty. A mnie to bardzo na rękę, więc już się dobrze nastroiłem do tej płyty. Ma ona momenty bardzo, bardzo szybkie, ale ma też spowolnienia i generalnie jest dość przytłaczająca muzycznie (tekstowo zapewne też, ale swoim zwyczajem, poświęcam im mniej czasu). Mogę powiedzieć, że to płyta kompletna - może nie jest to geniusz i coś, co umieściłbym w swoim Top 20, ale jest to płyta, która jako całość i wszystko do siebie tutaj pasuje. Wydaje mi się też, że przeniknęły tutaj pewne patenty z Manbryne, choć nie jestem takim znawcą BoP, aby tak kategorycznie stwierdzić. Generalnie polecam.
Deicide, album "Banished by Sin"
Z tym zespołem mam tak, jak z wieloma tworami deathmetalowymi - lubię posłuchać, ale nie dałbym rady wymienić ulubionego utworu czy płyty. Ot, porządna brutalna muzyka, ale niebudząca większych emocji. I w sumie tutaj jest podobnie, natomiast ten album brzmi bardzo dobrze, demonicznie, a wokale to cudo. Jeśli ktoś lubi klasyczny, ale nowoczesny death metal z bardzo głębokim growlem, to tutaj poczuje się jak dziecko w sklepie z zabawkami.

Great start for the #BlackHoleFest in Aarbug.
Unfortunately public transport did allow is to stay for #Kanonenfieber.
However I still enjoyed listening to #Ultar and especially to #Grima.
This week's #ThursDeath is one man OSDM project from Tennessee, CHUNKED. This is a SERIOUSLY good EP of as he calls it 'primitive, knuckle dragging' death metal. Great release I somehow missed last year.

Malaysia's OBSCURIAL just put out their second full length yesterday, and WHAT an album this is. 'Heretic' might be my favorite metal LP of the year so far. Some REALLY wild, unique stuff on this one.
@jake4480 I swear a lot is pure musical and mental/emotional lottery, it all depends on so many things. Something might get accepted or rejected on mood, I'm aware there's things that don't gel with me and I can see it's decent stuff, it just doesn't fit at that moment.

#NowReading - adored every damn page of steve waksman's "this ain't the summer of love," broadly about the unceasing #metal / #punk / #underground collision, but beautifully granular, connecting micro-scenes to #musicology. it equally brought alive conversations i know about in detail (punk), ones i don't (metal), & made me thirsty to read more #zines, listen to more #music, etc.. combined with his masterful "live music in america," i now wanna read everything waksman has written. @bookstodon
@bourgwick@bookstodon and the scene interactions were absolutely not entirely friendly or peaceful. Most visible around Corrosion of Conformity, an early crossover band that attracted both punk and metal crowds, before "thrash" was a well understood venn diagram overlap between them. Both are hard drinking subcultures given to expressing their feelings in a physical way.
