All things Beatley

“Let It Be” was a terrific nostalgic watch yet it seemed like a dainty appetizer compared to full course buffet of “Get Back”.

Crazy to think that we sat on all that footage for so long. I wonder what else might be out there.

I don't really watch Dr Who, but this was mildly interesting.

"The hefty price tag attached to the use of the [Beatles' discography] means that most productions opt not to use them at all. Speaking with Empire, Doctor Who showrunner Rusell T Davies stated that this issue is what inspired the story behind "The Devil's Chord" in the first place."

"In 1970, it looked like a portrait of the Beatles breaking up. Now it looks like the first rock 'n' roll reality show — and a vision of them coming together."

I guess Revolver is my favorite Beatles album, in that I like every single song. All other albums have tunes I skip every time. What is your favorite ? "None" is an acceptable answer, I guess. Haha

@ology it has this amazing simple feel. I mean Taxman etc on Revolver are awesome. But stuff like I'm Looking Through You on Rubber Soul- just wild, simple shit. 🤯

@ology well now you mention it, I guess it’s just particular songs for me. Blackbird, Yesterday, Imagine, Come Together, hmmmmm I’d have to review the discography :blobcatcoffee:

I know there are lots of fans out there, and probably they like all of their songs. As for me however, I was discovering the great quartet sporadically, that's why maybe I like some of their songs far more than others. But there are some songs that I truly adore. One of them is "Because". If heavens exist, then either the music producer there included that masterpiece to the constant concert program, or they have no musical taste at all. the harmonies, the melody, the lyrics, everything about this song is so beautiful!

tinygirl,

@menelion I like that song a a-capella, (Because.)

Last night, Trump hosted a party at Mar-a-Lago welcoming Hungary's fascist ruler Viktor Orbán.

The party featured the Palm Beach Symphony, the unofficial orchestra of American fascism, as well as a Beatles tribute band and a Rolling Stones tribute band.

Does anyone recognize the fascist tribute band?

FOUND!

More than 50 years ago, 's guitar was stolen from the back of a truck. It was originally sold by the thief to an unsuspecting musician for a few British pounds and a drink at a pub.

Now, decades later and after recent detective work by avid fans, it has finally been returned to an overjoyed Sir Paul.

Paul McCartney's iconic Hofner bass was stolen in 1972.

After more than 50 years, it was just found and returned to him (thanks to The Lost Bass Project and the Internet).

@davemark thanks for following up on this.

I refused to chase it down, because the poster teased even posting their story. For the clicks. They might has well have nicked it themselves.

It made me think a bit still about the pub owner that kept it. Would I buy something I knew was stolen, or knew could have been a BS lie, to help someone in desperate straights? Then what? You are sharing guilt now.

My surprise- how cherryburst the finish was. 72. And you know Sir Paul has had a few of these,

Do you recall anything you were doing 60 years ago today? I do. (I was 8 yo.) My older, teenaged sister insisted that we all watch the Ed Sullivan Show that evening. It was The first appearance on USA television. They opened with "All My Loving" and I was instantly hooked. I've been a fan ever since, and they are my favorite group. I even purchased their latest single "Now and Then" just a couple months ago.
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
