“The commander is a martial support class that can issue commands to her allies, granting them extra movement, actions, reactions, and more. The guardian is an armored tank, who can taunt opponents and maximize the effectiveness of heavy armor to be a bulwark against nearly any threat.”

A defender with a taunt mechanic? A martial support class that gives movement and action to allies??

LOOKS LIKE 4E IS BACK ON THE MENU, BOYS!

Ok i might have gotten sidetracked, and instead of preparing for the session tomorrow, i spent an hour writing a poem about a lost city the players are gonna visit...

18+ nionidh,
@nionidh@kitsunes.club avatar

It's about a city, called Feras Leigh, high up in the mountains, that was once inhabited by elves, but through a great war the city got wiped out and the elves got slaughtered or had to flee. After the war is over one of the elves that managed to flee, returns with a few others, and gives the deceased a proper burial, before leaving the ruined city forever and writing this poem.

Up in the city,
drowned in mist
I sat and stared
and reminisced
on olden days
of love and dance
when we were here
yet now i glance
on nothing
but the cold and bleak
wasteland,
I stand in and seek
the past
to put my heart to rest
which aches and yearns
within my chest
remembering
long gone feast and fete
beneath the moonlit
mountain gate

O, Feras Leigh,
i ask and plea
take care of those,
who couldn't flee
take care of those
we lay to rest
and guard
in an eternal quest
the heirloom
of our troubled kin
and memories
of our love within

Troubled,
woeful I retreat
into the streets
so cold with sleet
returned to home
now long at last
just dreaming
of the days that passed
no trace left
of joy we shared
the passion,
treasures, no one dared
to think
would be ephemeral, yet
now lie in stone
a silhouette

Up in the city,
drowned in mist
My heart remains,
and lies - unkissed

,

18+ wishes,

@nionidh ahhh, I genuinely love this!! you have such a nice flow with rhymes and your use of enjambments really add a lot to the tone of this poem. it makes it both feel like a kind of prayer, but a bit frantic or fraught with emotion, almost like the spoken word gets stuck in a throat :heartss:

We've been playing TTRPG online for a few months with a group we put together here on Mastodon.

It's been so much fun!

We hit some scheduling issues though and won't be able to play for several weeks. I'm getting withdrawal symptoms 😅

So umm... Anyone interested in learning Pathfinder? 😁

Started laughing while listening to the latest @slyflourish video.

It's on using paper character sheets to avoid being beholden to what big corporations decide to do to the digital tools we use.

I literally just printed a bunch of and character sheets to play with.

I draw Eclipse a lot but I often forget to include his buddy.

Eclipse is, among other things, a witch and he has a bat familiar named Faust whose main purpose is to be endearingly cute. Meet Faust, everyone!

i just switched from a swashbuckler to a rogue with a swashbuckler archetype in and i am immediately having more fun

im finding more build synergy and absolutely tearing through shit with sneak attack and panache. this is insane lmao

risa,
@risa@dice.camp avatar

@pixel sounds good ^^

the system is really big and complex tho, so explaining it over text in this format is gonna be a bit of a thing. do you have discord by any chance? having an actual chat program or even a call might make this easier ^^ but only if you're comfortable with that ofc. no worries if not 💚

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@risa yeah I do!! should be linked in my profile, happy to chat there

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

hey, any players out there have any advice for building a rogue? specifically a scoundrel type rogue, I'm having fun thinking of the build craft stuff but the dedication system is kinda overwhelming me and plotting out a build is getting kind of difficult

cartotastic,
@cartotastic@aus.social avatar

@pixel I tend to make characters in Pathbuilder and carry them thru to level 20 to see what's available, then make a copy and go back and change/tweak to see what else is available. Fortunately I don't tend to be much of a power gamer or optimiser so taking a level-by-level approach ends up dominating as I advance levels; those early 1-20 versions end up being a good guide but what happens in-game has more of an influence than expected. I planned out a sniper to level 20 for Pathfinder Society play and then ended up doing a rebuild at level 7 as a Spellshot because I wasn't getting good use out of some of the sniper abilities. I would never have imagined that at level 1!

pixel,
@pixel@urusai.social avatar

@cartotastic thats such a good idea lmao im almost definitely going to do that

Here he is! A fetchling flame order druid from Minkai who serves Yamatsumi, god of volcanoes. This fellow is also a bard and quite talented with his shakuhachi. Would you like to find him on a mountain?

GM_Ray,

Omg pre session jitters. Stress sweats. Stomach cramps. Did I do my prep? All my settings correct? Windows adjusted my volume settings again. I hope nothings broken in foundry today. I stayed up late setting up. Is my dog going to bark at every leaf? We don't use video, why am I choosing earings?

How am I not over this by now. Years and years of being a GM and full time for almost two years.

unordinarytales,
@unordinarytales@chirp.enworld.org avatar

@Imperor @GM_Ray Yep. I have mentioned it and we have a great group. I think part of it is the worry with any art you’re sharing with someone else. Worrying it’s not good enough etc, and letting the perfect be the enemy of good.

Imperor,
@Imperor@mastodon.social avatar

@unordinarytales @GM_Ray

That is super relatable.

I don't think your party would feel anything you come up with won't be good enough. I think having a party that comes together regularly is proof enough you're doing a good job.

Has it gotten any better at all?

Welp, I went ahead and bought the revised core books. I don't have any immediate plans to run or play this game, so I'll hold off buying the physical books until either this changes or a round or two of errata have been incorporated into the print runs.

Still, I've decided to take a leave of absence from buying after the fiasco earlier this year, and if I ever do want to write some stuff in the same niche, this game is probably my best bet.

The cover of the Pathfinder 2E GM Core, showing a green-clad human with a huge pike in front of a forest and a green-purple dragon.

tomtrottel,
@tomtrottel@mastodontech.de avatar

@juergen_hubert uh I enjoyed the ruleset of Pathfinder in the game PathFinder - Wraith of the Righteous (and its predecessor game) so much.

juergen_hubert,
@juergen_hubert@thefolklore.cafe avatar

@tomtrottel Well, I've played the Pathfinder 1E rules often enough, but it's a derivative of D&D 3.5 - with all the warts that implies.

But Pathfinder 2E works a lot smoother, and is much easier to GM for (which is an important criterium for me, since I am the GM more often than not.)

We spent most of tonight's Pathfinder session communicating via shared imagery with a plant from beyond the stars, using the Telepathy spell. Top 3 most delightfully bizarre sessions ever, easily.

I played some and had some beer and I'm feeling genuinely happy for the first time in a long while. I don't know if it's the beer or my friends but it's probably both.

The last few weeks have been rough to me. I'm glad I could let loose for a bit.

Good night Fedi. Have a good one.🍻

In our interview, we talk about the new Fury of the Elements sourcebook for and Ken geeks out about how he might use it in his game for (because, as long-time listeners know, we love to steal ideas from other games).

Check out the book on Paizo's website:

We also talk and how they are applying lessons learned from and to the new game.

We also talk about the yearly story events that drive both campaign universes forward.

nukehavoc,
@nukehavoc@dice.camp avatar

@lairofsecrets As you'd expect, Rage of Elements has a ton of great elemental monsters. I've only begun to read it, but I'm liking what I see. It includes critters like rust scarabs, snap drakes, living groves, salt-born stalkers, and much more.

4724 Men of Golarion calendar is assembled, edited, and exported. Gonna do a final check this weekend and it should be up on Pathfinder Infinite next week 😁
