I’ve had a chronic stomach condition I’ve dealt with through medication for years before this pandemic started. It all began with the removal of my gall bladder in 2009.

As of a recent call to the pharmacist, I’ve now been told they only have 20 pills out of the year supply I usually get.

The pharmacist said he hasn’t had a shipment in months and that both options of the medication I use are dry out with no word on when new meds may arrive. We’ve simply been told “there is a manufacturer shortage” from all local pharmacists.

This effectively puts me into an immediate dire situation. The loss of this crucial medication will make it impossible for me to work and as a result I will now need to apply for disability.

Why is there no mention of this in the news? Medication shortages are one thing, but to just let people run out of critical meds with no other options is just unreal. We are being abandoned.

Today was the day my doctor said mammogram, definitely a signpost of middle age. Two thoughts came to mind: I don’t feel much past 30 - but I’m grateful I’ve been healthy and active enough to age. One thing I’ve learned working at a disability nonprofit is how many ways your body tries to kill you, even if your diagnosis itself is not life-threatening. 1/

jocelyn,

4/ Most family doctors, and nearly all urgent care and other primary care clinics (at least outside of Ontario) do not have height adjustable exam beds, accessible scales, or hoists to aid with transfers. One of the most frustrating parts is that often the newest urgent and primary care clinics in BC are the only clinics around that have the height adjustable exam beds, but do not do Pap tests.

I had to go into the wild maskless public today for banking, replacement ID photos, eyeglass adjustments & signing some legal documents.

I counted a total of 6 masked people - not including me & Mom. Out of the 6 other masked folks - 4 were Asians, 1 black woman & 1 elderly white woman with a walker.

I saw over 100 maskless people today. I consider them, selfish plague spreaders.

Updates to the Public Interest Disclosure Act are meant to protect health-care workers who come forward with concerns.

Critics say workers will continue to be “muzzled” until they can speak publicly without going through the comms department. 🏥
