Millions of Texans are suffering from long and you might be surprised to learn that many of them are young and formerly healthy. Studies show that the more often you get infected, the more likely you are to have lingering, potentially life-changing effects.

Look for it in print in @TexasObserver magazine now, and online later this month.

@GatekeepKen @oconnell @TexasObserver Well, people can still make their own choices. The problem was in Texas. People were tribal and thought ivermectin was a real treatment. I will never understand a human taking a horse dewormer. If Texas were to fall off the map, I’d actually be happy. We actually could’ve gotten to her immunity if it wasn’t for tfg and his absolute ignorance. A report shows more died than in FL & OH

A protestor just held up a sign saying "MASKS SAVE LIVES" in front of unmasked Senators at today's Long COVID hearing!

@justafrog It still boggles the mind that scientists in the Lab wear hazmat gear for testing infected specimens - but we're the cranks for wearing masks and isolating if we get a sniffle.

I was so happy that all except one staff member at at were masked. All patients who emerged from scans, wore masks. Safe & empty waiting room. I ran into multiple unmasked people in other areas of the main medical building. I only had to respond to one antimasker person who looked at me & snickered.
I shouted - 'Don't snicker at my mask. My Dad died from covid in June. Don't be an ignorant shithead.' He was stunned into silence & 2 women clapped in parking lot.

Mom at front check in counter at West Coast Imaging office. A hallway is seen on right of desks - leading to an x-ray room.

msquebanh,

I don't look for confrontations with but will definitely confront them, directly, if they're foolish enough to do/say/behave in disrespectful ways towards me. I am not allergic or fearful of confrontational moments - when I feel they're necessary.

Not sure who needs to hear this…oh who am I kidding…everyone does.
Just found out that my SIL who came to visit my mom after she got out of the hospital knew my brother had COVID but came anyways. Now I’ve been exposed, my adult daughter, & my husband. Not impressed with the people who think they know better than doctors & scientists. It’s not “just a cold” to many people.

A story from someone I know:

"I was at work listening to news cast warning people that influenza season has really begun, and on top lf that covid is still out there. They underlined heavily that if you are sick - stay home. I looked over at my coworkers and most of them were clearly sick, coughing in short intervals and sniffing violently.

It took everything in me not to yell at them to go home, as the only mask wearing person in the office."

Another year of turning down multiple Halloween party invites because they're unsafe for me to be around people not wearing safe n95 masks. We will be doing same declining of party invites come December & January too. The socializing opportunities aren't worth getting covid.

I wrote another small declaration of intent to care for others when it is uncool to care.

I wrote a commitment to myself to end evil where I see it, by meeting it with light and knowledge.

I am finished abiding the constant complacency and ignorance regarding , how , how , how .
