I didn’t realize it was National Train Day, but it was a great day for a Cascade Bicycle Club group ride to visit every light rail station on Sound Transit’s 2 Line now that it’s in operation! We were even able to use a couple of recently opened bike connections, too #SEAbikes#2Line#PNW#Seattle#Bellevue#Redmond#BikeTransit#BikeTooter
Here, have the quickly-made MEGAMAP 1, a combination of the new Greater Northshore Connector Bike Map, most of the City of Seattle 2023 Bike Map, and the April 2024 2 Line Connector Eastside Bike Map.
It is NOT SMALL. Printed at native 300dpi, it's right about 26" square, or 660mm square.
1/2 Did route-testing on Eastside, & I saw that the Mercer Slough Trail has finally reopened! Now, there’s easy access to the South Bellevue light rail station from the I-90/Mountains to Sound Trail without needing to detour through a neighborhood. Quick tip: follow the asphalt #SEAbikes#Seattle#Bellevue#BikeTooter#BikeTransit#PNW

Hey, would anyone on Fedi happen to have a lead regarding community relations/communications type jobs? Either remote work or in the #seattle or #bellevue area, any leads on jobs even vaguely related would be appreciated.
Truly entry level development positions (pay is inconsequential I just want to be able to learn) are also appreciated here, I'm just extending as many feelers as I can
1/3 I rode my acoustic bike thru the atmospheric river, & by the end I was swimming but had fun! #SEAbikes
-end of the rainbow …is in Bellevue?
-can’t wait for new 8th Ave bridge for Eastrail to open
-signage/markings at 130th St Station
-selfie w @SoundTransit on the Eastside #Seattle#Eastside#Bellevue#Redmond#BikeTooter#PNW#LightRail
2/3 I checked out the new Overlake Village pedestrian bridge (it’s finally open!) that connects 520 Trail & light rail station
Visually, it’s really nice, mural takes you into a lush green forest
Aurally, it’s loud, as you hear all of the freeway noise thru gaps in mural slats #Seattle#Eastside#Bellevue#Redmond#BikeTooter#SEAbikes#PNW#LightRail
Anyone in the #Redmond or #Bellevue area have any recommendations for good authentic mexican food? ive been craving it so bad since leaving the south i need my fix
One outcome of our unmitigated #SUV obsession: #NYC Ubers are engaged in weight-based warfare, the bigger the better. That might be bad for traffic, pedestrians, the planet, but passengers want it, right? Right?!
Well, wait 10min outside #Bellevue hospital and watch one of these #SUVs pull up after the other. The result: this poor chap in a wheelchair can't get home. Impossible to get into one of these SUVs, and regular cars are hard to find.
You may have missed this but the stretch of I-405 between #Renton and #bellevuewa is completely closed this weekend from 10p Friday to 5a Monday.
Avoid the area. Avoid the detour as Coal Creek is slow enough without the traffic.
Did some route-testing & exploring for my light rail ride next week; I’m even more excited for it with all of the new bike and transit infrastructure!
-new Eastrail bridge at Wilburton Station in progress (completion expected this winter)
-new PBL going in on 124th Ave NE Spring District
-so much to like in this pic at Bel-Red/130th Station
-end of the 2 Line (before it gets extended into downtown Redmond) #SEAbikes#Bellevue#Redmond#BikeTooter
Some of the birds I saw today while on my daily walk through Bellevue's wetlands. Lots of blue and green herons seen today, one soaring osprey and a decent number of wood ducks. I especially liked one blue heron which was wading unusually deep. It almost looked like a goose if you squinted at it just right. Not usual behavior.
