So I finally managed to watch #CODA tonight. Friends and colleagues had told me I’d love it. I did, but not because I’m #deaf.
It’s depicts an experience so different to my own that I felt almost like a hearing person watching it. I’m not #Deaf, I’m deaf. My parents and brothers are hearing. I was always just slightly out of sync.
I loved the humour, love and sexiness of the Deaf characters though - refreshing!
But it made me think about my own kids. They have to feel free to fly the nest.
It’s on Netflix in the USA. I bought it on iTunes in 2022 solely because Amy Forsyth is the lead supporting actor in it, and I loved her performance in CODA. I loved The Novice. Rated it 9⭐️.
Fun fact: there was a lot of scenes shot in CODA detailing the relationship between Gertie and Leo. They were cut in the edit. It’s a pity they didn’t get released as extras.
I watched #CODA on #AppleTV yesterday. Nothing groundbreaking but still a great movie about growing up in a family with deaf relatives. Fully deserved its awards imo.
#jdr#Coda
Trying to pay attention to a dubbed movie, the #Monsterdon posts, and my family group text (who are currently debating the ethical & practical use of #AI in #ASL#interpreting 🤯).
Let's get this out of the way: they give a number of #reasons why #webservers "might wish" to establish that a web #client is running on a "#trusted" software stack, including things like "make sure other game players aren't cheating" and "ensure I'm talking to another human".
