Patriarchal AI: How ChatGPT can harm a woman's career (LSE blog)
If you ask ChatGPT to write performance reviews based on nothing but names, 'men are priceless and should be given more leadership positions in the organisation, whereas the women need help and guidance to improve their skills in their existing jobs'.
This episode of Everyday Misogyny is brought to you by academia.
Needless to say there's nothing remotely surprising or decent about his "proposal". 🤬
"How do you expect me to concentrate on what a respected academic is saying when she's got her hair down?"
"Impossible to tell whether she's Irish or Chinese because of course it's impossible that she could be both."
Every last word of this article is revolting.
Man: "Why are you walking in the park alone?"
Woman: "That's a personal question. I'm on my way back to my car"
M: "Can I walk you down?"
W: "I'm fine thank you"
M: "No need to be scared, I'm being a gentleman"
W: "That's nice but I don't know you and you're following me, which is alarming"
M: "You can get to know me, we can be friends"
W: "Why would I want to do that?"
M: "Give me a hug, I'm not going to bite"

@Sheril One of the few bits of #everydaysexism that's totally exhausting from both sides.
I always seem to come up with snappy replies to the "wow" comments about half an hour later unfortunately.
Having quite the phase of reading feminist YA fiction. 'Blood Moon", "The Eternal Return of Clara Hart" and now this: "The Burning" by the incredible Laura Bates (the creator of the #EverydaySexism campaign). Really interesting dual narrative of a young girl experiencing sexual shaming at school and online - with the past story of a young woman accused of witchcraft. Clever and thoughtful - highly recommended #AmReading#Books#LauraBates#TheBurning#EverydaySexism@bookstodon@edutooters
"Unfortunately, most studies at this level still focus mainly on the male brain."
"Researchers emphasized that if they hadn’t included female mice in the study, they might have missed crucial information about Alzheimer’s and sex differences."
It took us weeks to find a first aid training supplier who had a CPR training mannequin with breasts. We wanted our first aiders to learn correct CPR techniques performed when breasts are present, because our visitors are more likely to have breasts! The default training mannequin doesn't have breasts.
Anyway, a big thank you to Siren Training for procuring a mannequin with breasts for training!
One thing I find really grating when famous women die is that too often the photos used by the media are of when they were young and considered at their most beautiful based on societal standards.
She was 56 yet most photos used were when she was in her 20s or 30s. Women aging naturally with little to no cosmetic interventions to prolong “youthfulness” still makes too many people uncomfortable.
Apparently Irish women in politics have no experience in campaigning or advocating for women in politics so the top job needs to go to a man….. hits head off wall
I wear a mask because I have a number of health issues and an invisible disability. This is what I have to do to stay a little safer.
The strange thing is, since the pandemic, this one thing that makes my condition a bit more visible, strangers seem to think they have a right to comment on. Most commonly out of malice rather than curiosity.
The mask isn't just a "COVID thing" for me, but I don't know why certain strangers find it so offensive to see someone they don't know wearing a mask.
@jesswhite very sorry to hear that you are getting comments I too wear a mask, usually on public transport and occasionally in crowded groups with poor ventilation. I get the odd look, but never any audible comments. I suspect #everydaysexism may be involved
“I reached a breaking point where the #harassment was so bad that I called a crisis line. I thought I could just walk in front of a car and I wouldn’t have to go to work tomorrow,” Grossberg said.
“She was subject to one of the most vile, toxic work environments I’ve seen in my 30 years of practice,” Grossberg’s atty told MSNBC….
