My wife is looking for a remote (or local to Doylestown, PA) job in operations. She's been an ops pro for more than 12 years and IMHO is the best at what she does. Anyone know of any companies who need a kickass Ops person?
This morning I have an intro call about a potential contract role! It’s a longer shot (referral of a referral) but more than I’ve seen come through in awhile so I sank a good amount time into research and prep this morning to give it my very best :blobfoxfloof_w_:
Hypothetically, if one had applied for a cool job and been rejected, and a similar (although not quite the same) position was advertised again in the same company... applying a second time for it would be wise or foolish?
I just learned about @osjobhub. Really cool that a site/project like that exists! Should be really useful if you're sure you want to work in Open Source, but have no idea where exactly. Their site is definitely worth a visit, not just for programmers!
I have run out of severance and now I'm running out of savings. It's do or die now, folks. Job offers, job leads, job hunting advice...please send them all my way, and/or boost for reach. Freelancing is on the table, too. Details about me and what I'm looking for, to follow.
Got a response from the job I submitted a writing sample to last night saying "got it, we'll let you know what the next step is" which is worse than "we lived the sample, let's interview" but not as bad as, "thanks for your submission, we're moving Forward with another candidate, feel free to apply for other positions with us in the future."
Frustratingly neutral, in other words, but a step up from the "thanks, no" responses I've been getting...
Probably won't make much difference to my #jobhunt but I spent today doing some work on some of my github repo projects, getting some updates out for my Factorio mods, and cleaning up some very old repos that were either never even really started, or abandoned 15 years ago.
Hopefully that shows someone that I'm taking positive steps, and have skills outside of just PHP.
Shoutout to all my fellow job seekers in tech who are sick and tired of finding an interesting job to apply to, only to discover that they're yet another company running their own instance of myworkdayjobs.com, and if you want to apply to them you have to make YET ANOTHER ACCOUNT.
JFC, I have TEN OF THESE ACCOUNTS NOW.
Because apparently having one global myworkdayjobs.com site is too hard, or something? 😩
I always wonder if the people who write job postings realize that "fast-paced, dynamic environment" sounds like code for "chaotic, messy workplace with loads of pressure". I feel like some of them think it sounds cool, and so they put it in, even when the workplace actually has things under control. But I see it and I think, "Do I even want to apply there?" — and I'm sure I'm not the only one. #jobhunt
#JobHunt update -- just applied for an entry-level role at @mozilla
It's not the role I want, but my skills aren't enough for the ones I do want. Hopefully, we create a win-win situation because I'd love to make contacts and beef up my coding skills while contributing value in some other way for now.
