He told LBC the policy was subject to #labour fiscal rules*, but highlighted the party's aim of generating all electricity without using fossil fuels by 2030, saying he was "absolutely committed" to this target
In Mid-Beds The Tory vote share dropped from 38,692 to 12,680 a massive drop. In Tamworth 30,542 vote to 10,403. This is reported as a 28 or 25% drop in vote share but actually two thirds of Tory voters have walked away.
The Tory vote has massively collapsed.
In Mid-beds the Labour vote dropped to 13,872 and in Tamworth up less than 1,000 votes to 11,719.
Starmer is now writing comment pieces for the Express, thereby validating it's fact free approach to the news. This is not good. He has really jumped the shark.
Here's an excerpt. "So let me spell it out simply. Britain's future is outside the EU. Not in the single market, not in the customs union, not with a return to freedom of movement..."
On a low turnout (37.2%), Labour secured a 20% swing in tis favour to win the #Rutherglen#byelection beating the SNP by 58% to 27% of the vote... while the #Tories crashed to 3.9%.
And, now the reading of the runes can get under way....
As Prof. John Curtice observes (after his latest polling), showing around 80% of likely labour voters are pro-EU:
'Labour does have to realise it will find itself back in office off the back of an electorate that is three-to-one in favour of joining the EU'.
Whether or not this means #Labour may be thinking about how to re-engage with the #EU, rejoining, of course, is not something we can just wish to happen, the EU would need to agree & that willingness is hardly a foregone conclusion!
Even the client journalism for Starmer is lacklustre. Just want some honest UK press polling.
"Shock Sun Poll: 91% said they'd happily kick Richkid Sunak in the balls, but only 89% wanted to biff lightweight Sir Kid Starver's bollix. Sir Starver told The Sun "Obviously I'm very pleased with my results, it shows I have the will of the people behind my scrotum." A spokesperson for Number 10 refused to describe Sunak's happysacks stating "they're under examination by boffins"."
"Adopting rightwing policies on issues such as immigration and the economy does not help centre-left parties win votes, according to new analysis of European electoral and polling data"
Gasp. Who could possibly have guessed it? Someone should tell #Labour and the #SNP.

Siobhain McDonagh, Labour, on Politics Live last year. She confirms Labour have been told to vote Tory over the SNP or they're out. Labour have made deals around Scotland with the Tories to take over various councils. She also confirms this is Starmer's doing.
Ok. Have now recovered. The lesson in this is: with very low turnout, very close results, and all three progressive parties standing against each other, #Tories can still win seats. (If those 893 #Green had gone to #Labour, Tories would have lost).
I am a Green Party member and REALLY dislike Starmer’s Labour but given where we are at, #FPTP and 13 years of Tory ruin, surely #tacticalvoting is key
I think a cast should be taken of Keir Starmer's face the exact moment he realises the tory press are going to side with the tory party in the general election and preserved as warning to the future keir starmers of the #labour party.
"#Starmer, despite later attempts to deny it, clearly told an interviewer on LBC that Israel has the right to withhold power and water from #Gaza. #Sarwar considers it a breach of international law to do so. Which #Labour Party would #Scotland be voting for in the General Election? Come on ... you know the answer to that one" – Richard Walker
Listening to several political podcasts from assorted British commentators this week, there seems to be a consensus that the #SNP's #GazaCeasefire motion was primarily a cynical ploy to embarrass #Labour.
This seems to me to be
a. Lazy;
b. Cynical;
c. Woefully ill-informed about Scotland;
d. Wrong.
Even ignoring the fact that the leader of the SNP's wife is #Palestinian, sympathy for the Palestinian cause on the left in Scotland is very widespread.
Something that the WM vote against the SNP amendment on the Israel / Gaza crisis has shown me: where the Tories are already doing their best to destroy lives - and by that I mean of their own country people and those in most need - given an election where Labour wins, they will follow exactly the same policy.
The Red of Labour is merely a different shade of the Blue of Conservatives.
