Austerity, Brexit, Covid Lockdown Parties, PPE Scandal, Raw Sewage in UK Waterways & Coastal Areas, Economic Crash, Record Inflation, Record Interest Rates, Cost of Living Crisis, Pensions Decimated, Mortgage Rises, NHS in Crisis, Schools Crumbling, Housing Crisis...
And so it starts: Election 2024 will be on July 4th:
Rishi Sunak has decided there's unlikely to be any better news coming before the end of the year & things could get even worse....
Does he also like the symbolism of July 4th - independence in this sense from what? people are going to have fun with that.
But, we're now going to see the Right wing press swing into full attack mode, leaving the Q. has Keir Starmer so reduced Labour's profile as to present only a narrow target?
Great news that #AndrewFeinstein is going to stand against genocide complicit #Starmer in the Holborn/StPancras constituency in the UK General Election this year
Keir Starmer has issued his sic pledges to the country.
The approach - if not the actual list of promises - is similar to Tony Blair's tactics, with his "Pledge Card" pre-1997 election which brought a Labour landslide.
The glaring difference is that Blair was charismatic, politically adept and most importantly didnt have a very long history of blatant lies and evasions
Starmer is unlikeable, politically a one trick pony (punch left, move right) and is widely viewed as shifty and untrustworthy
Starmer has also had his "iraq" disaster before even getting into office with his disgusting statements and manoeuvring on #gaza
People were widely confident that with #blair and #labour itcwas true that "things can only get better"
With #Starmer's version of labour, there is no confidence that any thing will change much for better - not least because he, and especially #reeves keep telling us everything they wont do
"Things can only get bitter"
Martin Rowson reflects on Starmer ‘renegotiating’ his promises, less than 6 months old and welcoming them to meet his new pals. Different from the old ones of course
@RichardJMurphy A minority of the electorate voted for 14 years of #Tory chaos and indeed for Cameron's disastrous #Brexit gamble. Rightwing policy is destroying the disUK, which desperately needs ethical, climate-friendly politics of cooperation, compassion and reason.
The only person who is in a position to change this pattern is #Starmer by introducing a form of #ProportionalRepresentation, so that the left (as opposed to #Labour) has a voice.
@LALegault any tiny concessions wrung from #Biden over #gaza, any movement from his appalling, immoral, support of murder ....
is because of the "undecided" and the "fuck Biden" crowd
Pledging support to Biden at this stage is tactically stupid and endorsing genocide
Support for the lesser of two evils when the time comes if that is the only choice (as with #Starmer) but FFS try and make them be slightly less shit in the meantime
@LALegault
I am not #American, but i am sick of the US and UK "centrists" pretending their candidate is "ok actually" because the "other guy" is worse
They are not "ok" they are monsters
So choose the least vile when the time comes but stop telling me that #biden and #starmer arent turds rolled in glitter
lol, I think we all know what's going to happen now, don't we?
Lucy is holding the Rugby Ball the Yanks call a 'Football'....Charlie Brown is feeling hopeful.....
"Welcome to the #Sunak and #Starmer show and welcome to the next four, five, six or seven months of your life."
BBC
I can reveal that neither of them will be presenting the policy choices that are needed on the face of multiple symptoms of systems #collapse.
Instead do take a look at and promote the #GettingReal policy portfolio. https://gettingreal.org.uk
“It is still up for argument both within his party and among voters whether he is a firmly anchored leader of genuine conviction, the case made by his allies. Or is he, as enemies to both right and left contend, a ruthless opportunist who will say or do anything to get power?”
Oh look SIR Kier Starmer is doubling down on the Xenophobia with his new buddy Natalie
He can do this because he feels entitled to all our votes because, lol, "he's not the Tories!" #Ukpol#Ukpolitics#Starmer#NatalieElphicke#SmallBoats
“That’s odd, observed Rajan. Because you forced Labour’s North of Tyne mayoral hopeful, Jamie Driscoll, out of the party for sharing a platform with Ken Loach. And Diane Abbott is still not allowed back in despite having apologised for her antisemitic remarks.”
@fkamiah17 I should say #Starmer is appalling but he has a long way to go gefuee he catches TB, who remains one of the biggest criminals to have walked the planet. SureStart was lovely but doesn’t begin to balance out his international crimes or the fucking he gave to British society
