Finished! BOREAS DANCES ON TABLE ROCKS, 19x13”, pearlescent watercolor on handmade black paper. Depicting the May 10, 2024 solar storm over Upper and Lower Table Rocks in southern Oregon. What a night! (BOREAS, the Greek god of the north wind, is what the aurora borealis are named for.)

A painting on black paper of the aurora borealis as seen over Upper and Lower Table Rocks in southern Oregon near White City. The left side shows a dimly illuminated rock formation with steep sides and a very flat top, over which a crescent moon hangs low. On the right is a less defined rock formation with a more gradual profile on the sides and a broad top. The sky is painted in streamers of pinks and purples, with a green glow showing on the lower right side of the sky. Many shimmering paint colors are used to add to the effect. Paint palettes, brushes and pens are seen surrounding the painting.

Presenting DUST OF OSIRIS, watercolor and ink, 12x12”. Inspired by the Egyptian decorative motifs, the Egyptian Revival movement, and a high-res photo of the opened OSIRIS-REx sample container, containing dust from asteroid Bennu. This has been a labor of love for me, I hope you enjoy it!

Today’s is ! VOYAGE TO THE TWO ASTEROIDS is a whimsical of the mission about to redirect Dimorphos. In my view, this mission demonstrating asteroid redirection is the future of planetary protection, and an incredible feat!

What’s on deck this morning? A image of amazing folded rock formations on ! I have five 8x8” paintings to do by Labor Day for the Central Art Gallery Square Show, so they might as well be space (or abstract depending on the viewer. 😂)

Finished! “THE FUTURE IS HERE”, another view of the historic @SpaceX launch on 4/20/23. Watercolor and ink on cotton, 6x12”. The borders are painted in metallics, video to follow. (Also pictured: me.)

@SpaceX

A watercolor painting of the Starship test launch from 4/20/23, showing the vehicle and Super Heavy booster emerging from clouds of dust and exhaust. In the background, concentric intersecting circles of dusty yellow ink surround the booster. Around the outside, thick metallic gold and copper lines frame the piece in an Art Nouveau/iconography style. In the upper corners, a space-like background of blues and purples, with lighter flecks representing stars. Ink pens, eraser and brushes are seen to either side of the piece.
