Finished! BOREAS DANCES ON TABLE ROCKS, 19x13”, pearlescent watercolor on handmade black paper. Depicting the May 10, 2024 solar storm over Upper and Lower Table Rocks in southern Oregon. What a night! (BOREAS, the Greek god of the north wind, is what the aurora borealis are named for.)

A painting on black paper of the aurora borealis as seen over Upper and Lower Table Rocks in southern Oregon near White City. The left side shows a dimly illuminated rock formation with steep sides and a very flat top, over which a crescent moon hangs low. On the right is a less defined rock formation with a more gradual profile on the sides and a broad top. The sky is painted in streamers of pinks and purples, with a green glow showing on the lower right side of the sky. Many shimmering paint colors are used to add to the effect. Paint palettes, brushes and pens are seen surrounding the painting.

A new adventure painting, from our first visit to Muir Woods, a truly magical redwood forest just north of San Francisco. We were there in the late afternoon, and found it low in crowds and high in light rays 😍

Well, it’s my third adventure painting this month, an interesting driftwood “window” I found at Gold Beach earlier this month.

Presenting DUST OF OSIRIS, watercolor and ink, 12x12”. Inspired by the Egyptian decorative motifs, the Egyptian Revival movement, and a high-res photo of the opened OSIRIS-REx sample container, containing dust from asteroid Bennu. This has been a labor of love for me, I hope you enjoy it!

this is a for @jmac and it has quite the backstory to it... but i won't get into that here XD

the rocking chair made me just a tiny bit mad (eww objects that need proper geometry and stuff), but the dragons and all the colors were so much fun!

thanks a lot for commissioning me, and as usual, i am

a commission of a drake doing some fire magic, my first piece of 2024 (how fitting for the year of the dragon). thanks a lot to jon for commissioning me!

it was a lot of fun to render all the light effects, although i don't know how well it worked out in the end. very cute character, too!

obligatory reminder that i am currently perma-open for watercolor commissions, check my stickies for more info!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted an adventure painting! Tonight’s is a beautiful sunset I saw last week on Edmonds Pier overlooking the Puget Sound and the Olympic Peninsula.

JAWS could be a horror story for mermaids. So stay in your backyard pond for safety! Painted with watercolors.

Tinker & Sheep. This is the very last illustration I painted and then scanned. Now all my hardware is packed away for our move to Europe in just a few days!

I painted this last night with watercolor & ink, until 4 am, and I really like how it came out. The palette is right up my alley. That pumpkin pie too...
