Finished! BOREAS DANCES ON TABLE ROCKS, 19x13”, pearlescent watercolor on handmade black paper. Depicting the May 10, 2024 solar storm over Upper and Lower Table Rocks in southern Oregon. What a night! (BOREAS, the Greek god of the north wind, is what the aurora borealis are named for.)
A new adventure painting, from our first visit to Muir Woods, a truly magical redwood forest just north of San Francisco. We were there in the late afternoon, and found it low in crowds and high in light rays 😍
Another adventure painting, a driftwood log I found covered in moss and lichen, at Gold Beach earlier this month. (I found a lot of cool driftwood that day!) One for #Mosstodon? Enjoy!
Presenting DUST OF OSIRIS, watercolor and ink, 12x12”. Inspired by the Egyptian decorative motifs, the Egyptian Revival movement, and a high-res photo of the opened OSIRIS-REx sample container, containing dust from asteroid Bennu. This has been a labor of love for me, I hope you enjoy it!
Nearly done with the ink/gold portion of the #osirisrex#wip. Next up, decorative precious stone inlay (in paint, both figuratively and LITERALLY thanks to my Daniel Smith PrimaTek #watercolors), a golden center, and finally, asteroid samples!
Finished! DIANA PIERCES THE AZURE SKY, 9x12”, ink and watercolor on illustration board. Inspired by a photo of Apollo 4, the first launch of the Saturn V rocket on Nov. 9, 1967 from Kennedy Space Center.
A few days’ progress on the Saturn V launch piece, finishing the tower and the rocket, the exhaust using Ferris Wheel Press PLAITED GOLD TRESS, and foreground pad structure in ATLAS IRON ORE.
While growing up and even as an adult, we had several parakeets over the years and most all made wonderful pets, especially one named Mickey who was also blue and was my constant companion. This is dedicated to Mickey.
Excited to (finally!) announce that my artwork FAREWELL TO BENNU is on the back cover of The Planetary Society’s December 2023 issue of THE PLANETARY REPORT!
A young girl sits in the grass with her sweet best friend, her orange tabby cat named Nyla. There is something special in the bond between a human and their non-human pet. You can tell these two love each other by the way they gaze at each other.
A bale of hatchling sea turtles head for their permanent home … the sea. Here in Florida we are fortunate to have many species of sea turtles nesting on our shores.
Miss kitty is sitting on a chair beside the table and curiously watching her goldfish friend and wondering “What is that?” You know what they say about the curiosity of the cat.
My newest floral art creation is of a bouquet of sweet Lily of the Valley blossoms. Although highly poisonous to both humans and animals, they are a beautiful woodland floral.
This art piece was created for all the flower lovers out there which includes me. It’s a garden filled with blue and white iris blossoms with butterflies flitting here and there through the garden flowers. I hope you enjoy this new floral art creation.
Two beautiful white mares (gal pals) stand side by side in a rural pasture on a warm, sunny summer day. It’s always nice to have a friend to hang out with. Yellow wildflowers grow along the wooden fence line in this newest art creation.
I’ve always thought the roadrunner birds of the Southwest and Central U.S. were fascinating birds. This digital art image depicts two mates with some colorful grasses and desert flowers. Hope you like!
Today’s #SpacetoberChallenge is #Future! VOYAGE TO THE TWO ASTEROIDS is a whimsical #watercolor#painting of the #DART mission about to redirect #asteroid Dimorphos. In my view, this mission demonstrating asteroid redirection is the future of planetary protection, and an incredible feat!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted an adventure painting! Tonight’s is a beautiful sunset I saw last week on Edmonds Pier overlooking the Puget Sound and the Olympic Peninsula.
