With FPGA, including #FPGAMister and also cart-reading devices like #Analogue's #SuperNt, #MegaSg and #AnaloguePocket, there is only the device hardware recreating the original hardware at a circuit level, and the game's ROM data.
With software emulation, however, there is foreign hardware, the ROM data, and - between them both - a software layer intercepting, interpreting and translating, all at the mercy of the underlying OS.
Hmm, my #analogue#pocket did the thing again, it acted like it was waking up, blank grey screen for many seconds, then restarted the loaded game on the current Core.
That's not how it acts from a full shutdown OR a wake, so it's gotta either be a bug, or some "feature" I don't know about
A little disapointed in my #analogue pocket dock. Be very careful seating it, it does not very naturally fit in and fall on the USB C connector, got some minor scratches in my several attempts to get it in just right
Analogue's announced its next FPGA console, the Analogue 3D. It's a 4K-capable N64, and I have a LOT of thoughts about it (and just a small bit of info, because that's how Analogue's marketing machine works.)
Huh, #Analogue teasing an N64 device. Already have a functional N64 and it's hardly the worst to get running on modern displays so I'll probably skip that
Time to start digitizing a new retro manual. I haven't seen a good pdf version of the German SimLife manual yet, so this might be worth the effort. I will upload this to archive.org as soon as it's done.

Simply aesthetic... I love it. Even personally I never trusted in that technology. Always wondered if that would ruin a record from that position. #Japan#Mitsubishi#1980s#Showa#VinylRecords#Turntables#Analogue
ofc analogue sold out of the limited-edition transparent pockets in .05 seconds this morning. but why feel fomo? you can make ur own boys! #analogue#pocket#gameboy#nintendo#retro
This photo was taken by my lovely wife. The next photo from the same session has been published here: https://pixelfed.social/i/web/post/610509435470497665 and was captured using the old camera you see in the picture.
I really enjoy taking photos with this camera because you can only take 12 shots, and you look through the viewfinder downwards, not forwards.

Analogue is making an FPGA N64!...
