Hinter den Dünen des Nordstrandes ist ein kleiner Spielplatz. Und als ich die kleine Robbe dort gestern liegen sah, konnte ich vor Lachen die Kamera kaum halten. So lustig darf es gerne in Richtung des neuen Jahres gehen.
Ich wünsche euch allen einen guten Rutsch ins Jahr 2024!

There is a small playground behind the dunes on the north beach. And when I saw the little seal lying there yesterday, I could hardly hold the camera with laughter. It should be this funny going into the new year.

Die kleine „Püppi“, wenige Stunden alt. Wind fegt über den Strand und der Sand klebt an allem was noch nicht trocken ist.

The little one, just a few hours old. The wind sweeps across the beach and the sand sticks to everything that is not yet dry.

Nach dem wir es sturmbedingt fast nicht auf die Insel geschafft hätte, wurden wir einen Tag nach Weihnachten mit einem strahlenden Sonnentag beschenkt.
In meiner Abwesenheit wurden auf der „Düne“ wieder eifrig Robbenbabys geboren. Gar nicht so einfach diese ungestört zu fotografieren, wenn überall 300 kg schwere Elterntiere rumliegen.

After almost not making it to the island due to the storm, we were blessed with a bright sunny day the day after Christmas.
In my absence, baby seals were eagerly born on the "dune" again. It's not so easy to photograph them undisturbed when there are 300 kg parents lying around everywhere.

Kleiner vereister See in Berlin. Alles verschneit. Das Eis trägt noch nicht so richtig. Eigentlich hab ich gar keine Kamera dabei. Durch Zufall aber heute doch. Fünf Meter von mir entfernt ein kleines Eisloch mit Schilf daneben. Und dann sehe ich ihn und er will gar nicht wegfliegen. Ich kann es gar nicht glauben. Schönen ersten Advent! :-)

Small icy lake in Berlin. All covered in snow. The ice isn't really wearing yet. I don't actually have a camera with me. But by chance I did today. Five meters away from me, a small ice hole with reeds next to it. And then I see it and it doesn't want to fly away. I can't believe it. Have a nice first Advent! :-)

Ein Flugplatz in den Dünen. Der Tower ist dunkel und verlassen. Hier ist kein Betrieb in der Nacht. Im Winter muss die Start- und Landebahn mit Absperrungen vor Robbenkolonien geschützt werden, damit sich die Tiere nicht auf die Bahn legen. Kleine niedliche Insel du.

An airfield in the dunes. The tower is dark and deserted. There is no activity here at night. In winter, the runway must be protected from seal colonies with barriers to keep the animals from lying down on the runway. Small cute island!

ANKUNFT
ARRIVAL

Es sollen ja wirklich mehr erdähnliche Planeten geben als wir immer dachten. Auch unsere Milchstrasse soll es schon viel länger geben, als wir immer dachten.
Der Schriftzug "Ankunft" der an dem Tower des Helgoländer Flughafens steht, ist in diesem Zusammenhang irgendwie passend. Na ja, wir werden sehen.

There should be really more earthlike planets than we always thought. Also our Milky Way is supposed to exist much longer than we always thought.
The lettering "Arrival" which stands at the tower of the Helgoland airport is somehow fitting in this context. Well, we will see.

Die Milchstrasse über der Hauptsinsel Helgoland. Rechts daneben der Hafen, in dem nicht selten auch spät abends noch Schiffe beladen werden, welche dann am nächsten Tag früh raus zu dem nahegelegenen Offshorpark fahren, um Reparaturen durchzuführen.

Für mich ist es ganz wichtig, nach langem Arbeiten mit digitalen Kameras und Autofokuslinsen, auch wieder ganz analog und mit 35 mm Film zu fotografieren, gerne auch mit sehr speziellen Filmen.
Alles dauert länger, besonders das Scharfstellen bei der Vogelfotografie. Auch die korrekte Belichtung muss genau überlegt sein. Bis ich das fertige Bild vor mir habe, kann es schon mal Wochen dauern. Einschicken, Entwickeln und Scannen lassen. Teuer ist es auch noch. Aber die Freude, wenn endlich die Bilder da sind, ist so groß!
Hier ein Basstölpel mit den roten Felsen von Helgoland im Hintergrund.

Ein grobkörniger Film mit starkem Kontrast in dunklen Bereichen und gedämpften Farbtönen.
Mit diesem Film hab ich schon einiges gemacht und ich mag ihn!

For me it is very important, after working for a long time with digital cameras and autofocus lenses, to shoot again completely analog and with 35 mm film, gladly also with very special films.
Everything takes longer, especially focusing when photographing birds. The correct exposure must also be carefully considered. It can take weeks until I have the finished picture in front of me. Send it in, have it developed and scanned. It is also expensive. But the joy when the pictures are finally there is so great!

Mitte August, endlich kein Mond am Himmel. Mit dem Stativ in der Hand nachts über die Insel gelaufen. Noch jemand anderen mit der gleichen Idee geroffen. Bischen verquatscht, aber die Zeit drängt. Auf einer großen Düne kann man genau auf die Milchstraße und den Leuchtturm schauen. Also hin da. Oben angekommen überall bunte Blinklichter, uffff ja hübsch aber, na wird schon. Egal, 16 Bilder aufgenommen und weiter. So dunkel hier, ins Leere getreten und mit Stativ und Kamera darauf die ganze Düne runtergerollt. Nix passiert, fotografieren macht so Spaß. Wieder aufgestanden und gleich ein neues Motiv gesehen. So viele Sterne hier. Ferne. Weite. Alleine? Kaum!

Mid-August, finally no moon in the sky. Walked across the island at night with tripod in hand. I ran into someone else with the same idea. A little bit of chattering, but time is short. On a large dune one can look exactly on the Milky Way and the lighthouse. So there we go. Arrived at the top everywhere colorful flashing lights, uffff yes pretty but, well will. Anyway, 16 pictures taken and on. So dark here, stepped into the void and rolled down the whole dune with tripod and camera on it. Nothing happens, taking pictures is so much fun. Got up again and immediately saw a new motif. So many stars here. Distance. Vastness. Alone? Never!

Andere Perspektive. Ich hatte zwar gebeten und gebettelt, es würde wirklich ein ganz tolles Foto werden, aber es wollte niemand nach vorne laufen. Schade.
