Our favorite animals are deer 💛 ~ Nazaré, Portugal 🇵🇹 The name of this town and the presence of deer is not coincidental! In the second photo, the deer ducked its head before I had time to focus and take the picture. 😅
Mount Etna in the background, a huge crater in the foreground. I intentionally overexposed this frame when shooting to bring out the beautiful colors of this scene. Catania, Sicily, Italy 🇮🇹

Me and tins of sardines... 😆 This photo I took on my cheapest film, unfortunately in low light it resorts to golden colors, which is interesting in its own way. Canned sardines are very popular in Portugal.
“I am convinced that our electricity-driven civilization will one day cease to exist as has been the fate of all past civilizations. When the plug is finally pulled, much of our civilization’s knowledge will evaporate as the electrons stop flowing.”
Lightroom says I took 52,648 images in 2023, believe it or not, most of these were aurora shots!
I've also taken a few analogue pics including this one, #9 in #ianstop102023 showing the 4pm analemma as seen from my deck. This was NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day for Sept 23rd 2023.
This pic was a labour of love. A 4x5 inch glass plate was exposed for 20 seconds every sunny day from 21 Sept 2022 to 23 Sept 2023. Quite a lot of effort for 1 pic! #analemma#NewZealand#analogue#glassplate
