The software setting of is now a dropdown menu. Currently only for mastodon.social and mastodon.online.

Maybe it's temporary but if it's not, they'll have to add at least a hundred reputable and popular servers. Also, it's Mastodon software only. There are far more software, older and/or better than Mastodon which will probably not get support, at least as far as the approach I am seeing.

Since they are only adding cross-posting support, it should be fine to add support for other software like and , to mention a few.

Still, what I want to see is for Spoutible to federate with the network as well as network (a.k.a. ).

I swear, sometimes when I see what people write about #Bluesky / #ATProto on Mastodon, I feel like I'm watching the Polish state TV controlled by PiS, if you know what I mean… Completely parallel reality, independent facts, split timeline.

So the Bluesky plugin is released ! You can fetch it directly from the plugin manager inside the software. It allows you to explore the followers / followings relationships of the network. Here is a Fast Tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUq5w7-D_ps

Maybe not 1st to have the idea, but may well be first to put those thoughts into words on a blog, Robin.

I only recently took a peek at after a long time, and was a bit jealous on their situation as dedicated well-funded team developing a greenfield protocol. No tech debt, learn from the past, adopt feedback as you wish, and roll out in controlled fashion.

Recipe to overcome challenges that do hamper . I posted to :

Hmm. has a developer sandbox now? Is functional at the moment? Honestly, I'm more of a fan of DIDs.

One of the coolest thing about / is that third party apps now implement a lot of protocol features before the official app ❤️

Articles like this showcase why it's so hard to take many tech journalists seriously. The guy couldn't even figure out the simple task of joining a mastodon server at say Mastodon.social and then migrating later or such. So instead he wrote an article about how he couldn't join. Like dude way to show your lack of technical ability when most of your readers are probably technically inclined #Mastodon #MastoAdmin #press #infosec https://www.zdnet.com/article/bluesky-vs-threads-vs-mastodon-if-you-leave-twitter-where-will-you-go/

Well

I watch pretty closely on and I can tell you they're busy working on some pretty detailed, low-level, nuts-and-bolts issues, and not anything revolutionary or ground-breaking

And the is only what Bluesky makes of it anyway, to all appearances

For this weekend's coding project, I built a tiny single-user Bluesky→ActivityPub one-way bridge I named “Pinhole”. If there's someone on Bluesky whose posts you want in your Mastodon feed, you can download and run it yourself: :fietkau_software: https://fietkau.software/pinhole

Caveats: 1. I intentionally built it anti-scalable: you can use it to follow one Bluesky account from one fedi account, and that's it. 2. You need experience with web servers.

I've released an update to my "Skythread" Bluesky thread reader - it's now available without authentication, so you can share thread links with people who don't have an account. I've moved it from GitHub pages to my own server now: https://blue.mackuba.eu/skythread/

Also as a bonus: it now has a dark mode 🌚 (beta, will need some tweaks)

Profile abrufen klappt schon mal. :-)

luca,
@luca@social.luca.run avatar

Same thing for me… I should be hanging out here, where most of the moved. Instead, I'm spending most time on , the devs Discord and hacking on various tools for the API, and I try to drag people there one by one.

Not sure exactly what it is that's pulling me there… Some combination of UI/UX, tech architecture, some unspecified "vibe", and the feeling of being a part of something new that's only starting to be built, a "greenfield project".
