Sleep pattern is still off, but not unexpected.
Arrived home from work about 4:00pm, drank coffee & ate a snack. Then I napped.... for 3 hours hard!
Tucked Arianna into bed at 10:00pm with her meds & ice-pack.
Started on "Learning to Program with Haiku", going to bed after midnight.
Woke up at 6:00am to assist Arianna, then had coffee. She and my Dragon-in-Law Eva have left for a PT appointment.
I caught up on my Bible reading plan.
About to head to work. #Coffee#Nap#Bible
It will always blow my mind that Fundies use the Bible to explain why women should be submissive uneducated stay at home baby machines, while the Bible's own description of the "Perfect" woman is a Land owning female boss who is praised by her husband and her city for her contributions.
@RickiTarr Just so. The #bible is a threat to many established churches; that's why the Catholic church used to burn people at the stake for translating it into languages laypeople could understand, and why fundamentalist pastors today still keep a tight rein on how their flocks are allowed to interpret it.
We wouldn't want anyone to take Rabbi Jesus' objections to public prayer and religious elites, or his support for radical social justice TOO literally, now, would we? 😕
#TomParker added in the #QAnon interview that the country’s original form of govt was based on the #Bible, a common view of supporters of the #SevenMountainMandate, & that its #laws should reflect that. Scholars criticize that interpretation….
Still, Parker’s support for the movement is not new.
“The very God of Holy Scriptures, the Creator, is the source of #law, life, & liberty,” he said in 2005 on his FIRST DAY as an #Alabamajustice.
He quoted Genesis in his #sermon — I’m sorry, his concurring opinion — in the AL ruling that turned #IVF on its head by defining #FrozenEmbryos as children.
He quoted 17th century Dutch #theologian Petrus Van Mastricht. Ya know, good ole Van Mastricht. He quoted a 16th century #Bible – because older is closer to God, maybe – & quoted the #6thCommandment, thou shalt not kill.
He quoted Thomas Aquinas & John Calvin & one of Roy Moore’s old pals at the Foundation for #Moral Law in Montgomery. He wrote of the “wrath of God.”
Commander #MikeJohnson is treating the #HouseOfRepresentatives like his own private #church. He calls meetings to address legitimate government business, and spends 2/3rds of the time preaching from his #Bible, and butchering history to craft Biblical rationalizations for his predetermined agenda. The People's House is not a goddamned church, or a venue for #Christofascist pigs to inject #Christianity into our secular government.
"#Tennessee congressman claims #Bible has 'pretty clear' evidence of #UFOs and calls on Biden to stop the 'shenanigans' and to release evidence of aliens"
"Simon Peter" in the original Aramaic tongue is something close to "Shimone Keefa."
Peter (as many of you already know) comes from the Greek translation, "Petros."
Yes, and that makes things more complicated.
In the end, if not one of the 2 peoples is rather completely anihilated, an unthinkable outcome, the 1947 solution of the #UN, developed by great thinkers, is IMO the only way to a lasting solution that will not necessarily entail terrorist attacks on a daily basis.
7 Feb 1682: ex-#Jesuit convert Andrew Sall reports 8 chapters of #Genesis from William Bedell's (d. #otd 1642) #Gaelic#Bible have been transcribed #otd Sall was working for Robert Boyle & Katherine Jones, Lady Ranelagh on this project
My wife is FINALLY seeing how terrible the YouVersion #bible app is!
This whole "celebrity culture" we have in the #christian world is a huge problem that hardly no one is paying attention to.
I couldn't care less about your upcoming album, single, book, or study, or the fact that you are from a popular mega church. Why are we not doing Godly things FOR GOD?!
This wonderful graphic was shared by Robert Lee White in his Facebook feed on January 24. Since some folks object to links to Facebook, I'm not including a link — but it's easy to find this feed by searching Facebook for it.
By the way, Texas governor Greg Abbott is a pro-life Catholic.
Last week, I led the bible study for our mid-week discipleship group which has been very popular with young adults in our church. There are a lot of new people who are new Christiains—it's great.
I was shocked to see that only myself and one other person had physical bibles. Everyone else (around 30 people) was reading the Bible on their phone!
There are advantages to a digital format, especially the ability to easily switch between different versions. The main disadvantage that I see is that it's more difficult for the reader to understand the context of what they're reading. The text becomes a database that you query and divorced from the chapters before and after. You don't get the sense of a book belonging to a particular section or genre grouping.
Am I a fuddy-duddy? Does it matter if people read from physical bibles or not?
According to #Newsmax gremlin #GregKelly, everyone needs to stop idolizing #TaylorSwift because the #Bible, but somehow idolizing Trump is divine. The hypocrisy and absurdity are truly boundless.
