I wrote an #inkscape feature for 1.4 which allows you to rescale a document without changing the actual sizes of objects. It's a lock button.
But our docs writer doesn't understand what it's for and I find myself unable to explain more. Perhaps one of you kind internetizens who has used Inkscape and #svg might have a go at digesting the explanation for me? ❤️
Several years ago I decided to learn Blender to replace the very expensive but outdated 3D app I was using. It ended up being a fantastically good idea.
Now, I'm wondering if there are free and open source alternatives that are good enough to replace my Adobe apps for professional use (mostly Illustrator and Photoshop but really all of them)
On another front, I am now in the process of setting up our new #thai#company together with my wife. The #lawyer is already at work. 🥰️
The name is set, the #logo and a minimal #corporate design are made (I used an #opensource font and did all the work in #inkscape), the #domain is bought and set up, the #website is in the works (with #grav) and our thai #friends are on board as shareholders as well. 😃️
Unfortunately I can't share the details yet, but I'm still really excited. 🥳️
This is so much better than our first #videoTest, and more what I had in mind when it comes to our #vectorArt in the framework of Inkscape #tutorials.
Hopefully, #MastoArt & #FediArt followers are more interested in #Inkscape, this time. Of course that's among our main reasons to make videos in the first place, not just selfish promotion. Every time one of our videos will turn an #Adobe#Illustrator user into an @inkscape artist, we are promoting #FreeSoftware successfully.
📐 Entertain yourself to some chat, learn about making mascots, intricacies of design and vector graphics. 🎶 In the background, you can hear soothing music licensed under public domain or CC licenses with derivative clauses, to which I'll gladly provide sources.
Bilingual streaming. Most of the time, it's English - but let me know if you're into Russian: I'll keep communications in both languages.
Metastream is underway: today, we'll dive deep into creating a Viewer Character for use in my further streams. In summary, idea is very similar to #StreamAvatars - little creatures spawn and roam around on the bottom of the screen, reminding of the viewers in chat.
But I have some nuances which I wish to cover with #GodotEngine. 👾 It's smooth animations, and physics, and #Peertube#LiveChat plugin support, and partial viewer authorization... Woah! More of that in the separate stream, but right now let's concentrate on the design part in #Inkscape.
Thank you, my dear 4 viewers on #TILvids, for coming today to #VectorArtStream. I had a nice space casually explaining what I work with and it didn't feel as intense as it did in lieu of any viewers at all. Letting your tongue out is kinda refreshing - both mother tongue and English! 🤪
Not only did I have time for #Inkscape, there was some for #Penpot as well. These are all nice #FreeSoftware packages that work together well. There is an important distinction between graphics production and layout, and I hope I helped you figure it out.
My channel #VintproxEdutainment offers educational value, all the while giving it a sense of lighthearted entertainment. It can be anything: my struggles, joy, your audio experience, wisdoms... For stream schedule and other details, read https://techhub.social/@vintprox/112065524799922798 🧵
Here comes a Viewer Character that I was doing on stream today. There is more work on it, but let it shine your rest of the day and come tomorrow for more!
Today's unsolicited request for support comes from the Nashville Electric Service of #Tennessee.
I'm hoping that the person is new and doesn't know who does their IT support. Because the idea that a electric company is officially requesting help from a volunteer on the internet doesn't bode well for their infrastructure.
(They were asking about an internal #inkscape extension which I can't possibly know anything about)
From time to time I get private messages from people who want help, and I have to let them down because I can't provide private #inkscape help without a paid contract.
But the below response shows the persistent confusion about what #opensource projects are and what responsibilities the people who work on them have to the general public. (i.e. a commons with people in it and practically none at all)
How we educate people about what #oss / #foss is and have support for folk is an open question.

@inkscape has quickly become one of my favourite design tools. The "Power stroke" live path effect allows you to turn a simple curvy stroke into a dynamic, sweeping form.
Draw a curvy line using the pencil or the pen tool
Took some time today to finally change the font on my TOS-movies era screens from the inaccurate 'Jefferies' I was using before (left), to the appropriate 'Microgramma' (right).
Was working today on kind of an entry piece for Community Design Team: a logo and new mascot for #Bootc (special type of container).
His name is Bootseef and he's ready to fly through updates! 🚀🚀 Thanks to Madeline Peck and Design Team for the sketches, sources and color choices that inspired me. 👋 I enjoyed doing this particular mascot the most.
@fedora.design@peertube.linuxrocks.online and #CommunityDesignTeam have lots of work on their plate, so I invite aspiring and designers by trade to have a looksie-look in their GitLab issues. @fedora has engineering and other teams worth their gold, making software great, as well.
