Peter continues his look at Halloweeny Saturn games with The Mansion of Hidden Souls. Have you ever tried out this FMV adventure? Check out our thorough exploration of this ethereal, creepy title:
The always reliable Damien McFerran from Time Extension reports that Retro-Bit is set to release the Saturn Pro controller, a sequel of sorts to the original Sega Saturn joypad. That pad was absolutely fantastic for 2D games of all stripes, and especially versus fighting games, but the Saturn Pro pad adds two (tiny) analog...
The Sega Saturn fan translation community has been busy lately: Updates to Silhouette Mirage and Mobile Suit Gundam in English as well as new Spanish and French translations for Prisoner of Ice and Astal, respectively! Plus ... an overhaul of Dragon Ball Z's French release? Get the details in my story:
A #Saturn IB #rocket on display at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor’s Complex.
The #SaturnIB helped test the Apollo spacecraft in Earth orbit.
The rocket also carried the Apollo spacecraft to the Skylab space station and to meet a Soviet Soyuz for the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project.
The eight red nozzles are the 8 H-1 #engines that powered the rocket.
The Saturn port of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night has been maligned quite a bit over the years, but is it that bad? My fellow SHIRO!, Peter, says no! Find out why he says it's worth playing on Sega's console:
A longstanding question about Saturn: are its rings new or old, and where did they come from? The icy material in Saturn's rings looks young, but it could be old and getting constantly resurfaced. But, new research suggests that they are indeed young and could have been formed from two icy moons that collided and shattered a few hundred million years ago. Researchers simulated 200 different versions of impacting moons and found many different versions that would scatter the icy particles into rings like what Saturn has today.

After a year of work, the English fan localization of Saturn adventure game J.B. Harold: Blue Chicago Blues is finished and available to play now! Get the patch and read the story behind it:
Whether Saturn's Rings are Young or Old, its Moons are as Ancient as the Planet Itself
The age of Saturn's rings is an ongoing controversy among planetary scientists. They look young, but are they actually young or just being resurfaced by micrometeorite impacts? Scientists have asked a similar question about Saturn's icy moons, which could have formed with the planet or were captured icy objects from the outer solar system. A new study mapped impact craters on the surface of the moons and dated them back to nearly the beginning of the Solar System. No matter how young the rings are, Saturn's moons are old.
A lot of fan translation projects for Sega Saturn games reported progress over the last week, from J.B. Harold and Silhouette Mirage in English to Deep Fear in French and Tomb Raider in Spanish! SHIRO! has compiled a status report to keep you up to date on them all:
With the monsoon largely shut down this week, clear skies have returned. Here are a couple of results from last night's smartphone + telescope imaging experiments. #astrophotography#Saturn#Andromeda#astronomy
