Voting in #Texas for the upcoming municipal elections, and don't know voter ID rules?
Read here:
https://www.votetexas.gov/voting/need-id.html
Yes, your acceptable ID can be expired (up to four years) if you're 69 years or under. Presumably, you can a long-expired driver license if you're 70 and over.
If you cannot obtain an ID, there is a list of alternative documents you can use along with a "Reasonable Impediment Documentation" (RID).

Fifty years ago, if a case had come before asking if a state could police the international borders abutting it and prevent the federal government from doing so, SCOTUS would have unanimously ruled no. This would not have been a question. "The federal government is responsible for international border security" is 100% settled law.
Instead, we barely eked out a 5-4 no vote.
Four SC justices manifestly do not believe in the Constitution.

In 2020, a contingent of Trump supporters used trucks and vehicles to form a "Trump Train", which harassed and endangered a Joe Biden campaign bus driving through Central Texas.

Fearing for safety, the bus operator requested police support. Except once it entered San Marcos (just south of Austin), the local cops refused to intervene.

Several travelers on the bus sued, claiming the city violated the Klan Act of 1871.

San Marcos just settled.

You may have heard that Houston schools plan to convert libraries to disciplinary centers and fire the librarians.

What you may not have heard is that the State of Texas took over the Houston school district and installed its own superintendent.

That's the guy who is closing libraries. This is not something local residents want, and the superintended is not locally accountable,

Gov Abbott is trying to turn Texas into a "Right to Work People to Death" state by overturning local laws that protect workers, like mandatory water breaks. (Austin passed one.) I hope the Biden administration restores these protections.
