Really wanted to go for a run today but didn’t want to risk hurting my already sore knee so opted for a walk 🚶- #walk #walking #walks #running #notrunningsucks #Health #HealthyAgeing #healthy #fitness #mindfulness #meditation #mentalhealth 🩵

Heading for a max of 38C. Already high 20s by 9am. So grateful for the shade of the Port Jackson figs on my walk through the park.

As a sober individual living with clinical depression, I find immense peace amidst the natural world. Walking in sunshine, like at Waitt’s Mount in Malden, invigorates both my mind and body. 🌳

Remember, physical activity comes in many forms—find what works for you!👟🚴‍♀️🧘🏽‍♂️☯️

🎯Swap your screen for sunshine! Walk, stroll, or ride—just get moving! Your body and mind will thank you. ☀️

We had dinner with some friends this evening -- five of us in total. After discussing it with Helen earlier in the week, I came out to them as autistic.

I got an interesting set of reactions. Angela (a former headteacher, who I thought knew more about autism) said: "but you're so social." So I said a few words about masking and learning to spend time in company. Lesley replied: "you should have known him when he was young. He was really quite odd." (No, it's fine, we have that kind of relationship.)

I told Angela I thought she'd known for years, and she said she'd suspected it, but only because of my unusual walk. So, if you really want to pass as NT, you need not only to avoid ticcing and stimming, and make eye contact, and say the right things at the right speed, and pull the right faces, but also to get your walk right. Who knew teachers specialised in gait analysis?

So that's it. I'm committed. I'm now. 🙂

Male and female are quite distinct, partly because of our musculature and where we carry our weight. I'm told it's one thing that many people consciously relearn.

May I ask whether your friend is a man? If there is such a thing at an autistic , I wonder whether it's more noticeable in men.

I definitely did on my toes as a child. I remember being told not to do it, because it made me look like a girl. (Different times...) That's what prompted my comment just now about male and female .

Rainy park walk today.

Crime scene tape up and road still closed near the pool and Bowlo. So had a bit of a detour on the walk.

Photo of road closure from other end. Just yellow signs and witches hats. No obvious police presence apart from the crime scene tape.

Few people out on a rainy Saturday morning. The cockies were out though, foraging on the grass under one of the hoop pines. Not looking as carefree and raucous in the wet.

Video of several sulphur-crested cockatoos foraging on the park lawns under a tree on a rainy day. Sound is the wind, a few bird chirps (not the cockies) and a bit of rainy day sounds (rain, traffic going on wet road out of shot).

📣Fun fact: Did you know even 150 minutes of exercise a week can increase your lifespan?

Just ask my curious rescue kitty Xing Xing 🐱 who's always keen to inspect my post-walk "Winter Walk" bag for snacks!

Remember, even short walks benefit your health. Get moving, your heart will thank you. 👟❤️

The incessant rain of the last week has kept us indoors but today we managed to head out for a walk through the cemetery once more. I think it would be fair to say that the squirrels and pigeons and crows have missed us. We had a scurrying and flapping posse accompany us and launch themselves ahead of us to wait for the entire walking route.

Noticed a bunya cone had fallen to the ground. Looked like a bird had a peck. Nuts to be good tucker for people too. Not sure how they're prepared.

My walk was phenomenally successful! I burned around 1,000 calories, it felt so nice outside, so I kept going for several hours. I treated myself to Jimmy Johns and now will high tail it home to enjoy a game. I'll play Persona 4 Golden, No Man's Sky, or a random game. Another tempting idea is drafting a short story which popped into my mind!
