Not to mention, the company overhyped its products and is currently dealing with multiple lawsuits for stealing data for training AI.

    @Hey_Beth I think as his legal troubles pile up and his defences exaporate, there's a chance that either SCOTUS will step in, the GOP will pressure him to pull out in some way or he'll just pull out himself. Or yes, a heart attack or similar.

    It might be a small chance but it's a growing one. Haley is smart to just stay in the race in the hope something happens to him. Then she can just pipe up and say "I got name recognition, I've been on SNL and btw, every poll has me beating Biden".

    I switched to Deezer. There are many other choices: Apple, Amazon, Tidal, Qobuz and others. If you are the type to abandon Twitter because of Musk, why pay Spotify to make Joe Rogan wealthy and the world less informed?

    @augieray I switched to Deezer, too. Much happier. However, it looks like under this new deal, Spotify will be licensing the show to new platforms. If Deezer buys it, I'll be jumping ship again.

    Since I'm thinking about it, let's talk about Ignorance. I have so many mixed thoughts on the subject. So, a little back story on me, for those who haven't already figured this out. My father was a pastor, I was raised extremely Conservative and religious, and while some of it struck me as a bit off, and I was certainly less Conservative than my parents, I was a good little girl and towed the party line. It wasn't until my little brother came out when he was 14, that my wake up call really began. Suddenly, it was personal, I love my little brother, how would he be going to Hell? If you start doubting one thing, then slowly you start doubting everything.

    Because of this background, I do have empathy for what I consider true ignorance. For those who did not grow up in this environment, it can be really hard to understand how people can just blindly believe these things. They don't understand the cult like atmosphere that it truly is. All your media is this one thing, all your social circle are people that agree with you, you are quite literally in a bubble of propaganda. For me the combination of being around different kinds of people and factual education gave me the ability to see the truth, and it's something I still work on, with anything you consider fact, you should always leave a window open, there's always more to learn.

    Sooo, if you read this far, What has been your experience with ignorance? What is something you've been ignorant about? Is willful ignorance actually a form of ignorance? Do you think there's any true ways to convince people they are missing out on the truth?

    @RickiTarr 2 stories. My grandmother was a staunch catholic I was raised CofE and I 'came out' as atheist or at least, non-believing when I was 12 ish

    When I was in my 20's, the church she'd been going to for most of her adult life got a new priest. At bible study (or something similar) one evening, the new priest opined on how non-believers were hell-bound and she told him she couldn't believe it of me, stood up, walked out and never went back. I didn't find this out until after she died. 1/?

    @RickiTarr 2/? My wife and I knew each other at school and have always been part of the same friendship group. Before we got 'together', my wife and I, along with most of our friends, used to be heavily into alt. spirituality and woo medical stuff - crystals, Reiki, warmed-over buddhism, etc. We got into it through yoga and martial arts (which we still do).

    I grew out of these beliefs before she did.

    @RickiTarr 3/3 If you want to convince someone that a lot of what they believe is wrong, you have to be super gentle about it. It takes a long time and you have no control over the timescale. Let them ask questions, and be ready with answers and evidence but don't overdo it with facts. So make sure you're in it for the long haul. At least that's how it was for us.

    I know this might sound manipulative but for us to work, we had to agree on this.

    And we still have our hippy friends. 😊
