Can I ask a possibly very stupid question?

This whole time I've been wondering... why didn't Trump just uh... scan all the documents and then give them back?

Obviously, that's still illegal and bad and wrong...

I guess because he wasn't going to do all that paperwork himself and asking someone else to do it creates a trail of evidence?

But I mean if he just wanted to keep the information so badly?

Or maybe he did do this too and we don't even know?

@futurebird A lot of help and direction from smarter mobsters than himself. Putin tells him what to do, MBS, even Jared gave him directions on what was valuable to be sold. Who knows who else?

Here’s the scary: If he goes down, those billionaires have plenty just like him, only smarter, teed up in the wings.

@atomicpoet told me that he's heard rumors that Sky is gaming feeds to pump up the traffic on select accounts. I hope that's not true, but I'm already seeing some really pedestrian accounts with unrealistically high metrics. We learned the hard way that it often wasn't organic on Twitter. They just lied about it. A lot.

Exactly 60 yrs ago, on June 12, 1963, NAACP Mississippi field secretary, Medgar Evers, returned home. Carrying "Jim Crow Must Go" t-shirts, he was shot in the back. His wife found him bleeding at the door. He died later. At his funeral, brutal police tactics failed to suppress anger among 1000s of mourners. Later, Medgar received the 1963 Spingarn medal for his contributions and sacrifice.

@juddlegum She never discussed classified info on her server. As SoS she used Cables. People don’t know wha those are so they default to ‘email’. She could not send nor receive cables on her server.

Every SoS used a off site servers. Hers was secured. Powell used Gmail and destroyed every part of his account. She preserved everything.

@msnbc is covering Trump's appearance at a campaign event like the Pope had just landed. And we have no recourse whatever. It's effectively the only remaining pseudo-news channel and no credible competitor is likely to come along and fix that. These are dire times for democracy.

Trump's Florida indictment should be required reading. It does a good job of juxtaposing two things:

  1. The former president stored hundreds of highly sensitive classified documents in bathrooms, closets and other places that weren't exactly secured. The documents included boring stuff like defense and weapons capabilities of the US and allies; potential vulnerabilities of the US to attack; and plans for possible retaliation in response to a foreign attack. Worse still, in the wrong hands these documents can expose and endanger human sources.

  2. In addition to the 150 full-time, part-time and temporary employees at Mar-a-Lago, between January 2021 and August 2022, the Mar-a-Lago Club hosted more than 150 social events, including weddings, movie premieres, and fundraisers that together drew tens of thousands of guests.
