@2ndStar @christoph_schymura Ich habe da eine Geschichte aus der USA gelesen, wo ein Autofahrer die Mitteilung erhielt, dass seine Versicherungsprämie seines Autos erhöht werde, da die Versicherung genügend Angaben hatte, dass das Fahrzeug zu häufig zu stark beschleunige und dann wieder stark abgebremst werde

@mina @Grabmacherjoggi die Zürcher Obrigkeit war auch nicht besser. Ebenfalls im 18. Jahrhundert wurde ein junger Mann verhaftet und musste sich rechtfertigen warum er nach 8 Uhr abends auf der Strasse in Zürich unterwegs war

i'm just curious:
is there a scenario where you don't use any sort of int as a primary key (even composite keys) for a database table?
i've seen emails or stuff as primary keys and i wonder why one would do that? if that string gets updated, you need to process that all the way down any relation 🤷‍♂️ 🤔

@pmj @mina if your table gets so big that it needs to be partioned than you need to some kind of reversed timestamp to have a partion criteria. At least for Db2 on z/os

The monster is the data centre. About 20 years ago I was allowed to a tour to the company mainframe. The floor was about the size of gym (Turnhalle) in the centre of the room were 2 closets size computer and a third of the room was filled with disks

Heute morgen einen komisch geparkten Kleinbus mit Kennzeichen eines anderen Kantons gesehen. An der Bushaltestelle daneben hatte scheinbar jemand seinen Konzertlautsprecher auf dem Rolli vergessen. Noch komischer: Auf der Siete, die der Strasse zugewandt war, gab es auf Kniehöhe eine Ausbuchtung, die an einen Bewegungsmelder erinnerte.

Dann war alles klar.

@marcel vor ein paar Monaten kam ich an einer Einfahrt vorbei da standen mehrere Lautsprecherboxen nebeneinander, ein paar Meter weiter in der nächsten Einfahrt war dann die Kamera.

Just rode my e-bike to brunch in the rain and wind at 7C/45F. Biking is just the most convenient and fastest option for getting places in Amsterdam 90% of the time. Why think or plan or pay money when you can just get on your bike and be there in a small predictable time? But I do need to figure out where my finger-full gloves went ASAP

Aber die Priorität dürfte schon das Frontend sein

Je mehr Produkte bis Cloud funktionieren der grösser wird die Anzahl der Produkte die irgendwann nicht mehr funktionieren. Viele Tesla Besitzer wissen ja auch nicht wie sie bei einem Stromausfall ihres Autos die Türen öffnen können. Es gibt Videos dafür auf dem Internet aber ohne Strom....

Was zuerst genannt wird, hinterlässt einen stärkeren Eindruck.

Ein übertriebenes Beispiel:
"Nun zum führenden Mondforscher, ist der Mond aus Käse und ist es Emmentaler oder Appenzeller Käse?"

Die Antwort ist dann natürlich zuerst ein Nein, aber wieso stellen die sich immer wieder so dumm?

So I'm a bit sceptical about our solar system

So it comes down to the next 100 years or so, can we as humans control ourselves and our planet to be able to build spaceships that can safely transport humans outside of our solar system

So, did you have feeds that wouldn't refresh because of this error: Feed Download completed but size does not equal expected size?

@nixCraft why would IBM sell you something which would cause them to earn less. Currently they earn a lot in license fees. The only license mode I am aware of, you pay for the one hour of maximum CPU usage of each month.
So IBM offers Java coprocessors that don't have license fees unless those coprocessors run at 100% and spill over to the main processor which earns IBM the fat paycheck. Because that's what happened at a previous employer
