Something I miss from #MacOS: Being able to command-click on a Finder window's titlebar, and seeing a pop-up menu of the entire file path.

I can't find any convenient way of doing this in #KDE #Dolphin, other than making the window huge so it can show the entire path, which doesn't work with my workflow most of the time.

Just for the curious, the directory I'm working on now is 127 characters long (full path) and 8 directories deep from /

Edit: Found a solution, thanks to @Tionisla

Digging in the basement I found a 1-1/2" listing of an OS I wrote in the mid 90s. It is 100% 80186 assembly code. Complete with TCPIP stack, Web server, FTP, and FAT filesystem for use in a hand sized device I also designed.

Has SW floating point routines including all of the trig. Applications ran in Basic and the compiler I wrote is in this. My PUT/GET statement took and optional string for use in keyed database access. This was my first (and not last) exposure to AVL trees.

Ahh memories...

Just uploaded a new build of @keepassxc to Debian unstable, this adds a separate keepassxc-minimal package, and a transitional package that depends on keepassxc-full | keepassxc-minimal; so people upgrading (or new installing) will get the full experience again.

This is still 2.7.7, mind you. 2.7.8 I need to go look at some day when I'm not killing myself with apt solver work!

SD cards are the literal worst.

they've expanded to be the size of small hard drives, and devices like the rpi keep using them as boot media, but they:

  • use garbage tier low endurance flash cells internally
  • have little to no overprovisioning for wear
  • perform only the most basic wear levelling
  • have no protocol level integrity checking
  • have few internal error correction features, if any
  • decay comparatively quickly without patrol scrubs
  • do not perform patrol scrubs
  • cannot do PLP

So, last I checked you could still buy PCB mountable sockets for them, bit does anyone know if anyone's still manufacturing NES-compatible controllers?

@RL_Dane @joel @amin @dm @ivan @sotolf @thedoctor I've used quite a few mobile OSs over the years, and in my experience gesture wise, WebOS: Awesome, Meego: Awesome, BB10: Awesome, Android: Unusable, forcing me to waste part of my screen to hold buttons that should have been in hardware, WIndows phone: Okish where they exist, multitouch trackpads: Nuisance

Changed my writing-dedicated box from running to -- I like cwm, but it's still a bit too mousey for my taste.

I also changed all of my fonts (both xterm and i3/i3status) to be bitmapped (the "fixed" font), so everything is looking REALLY crisp.

Maybe I'm getting quite crochety, but at this point, I think I'd much rather have a lower res screen with crisp bitmapped fonts than a crazy high-res screen and vector fonts.

The only thing I'm missing is . My i3status looks like
cpu 31% | load 0.80 | mem 9% | dsk 13.4% | net Gallifrey 82% | chrg 89% 0.00W | Sun 2024.05.26 06:42 AM

instead of
cpu 05% | 📈 load 0.29 |  28.5% |  disk 59.7% |  Gallifrey 67% |  Sun 2024.05.26 06:42 AM

There was a time when I ran my business with this and had my number printed on my business cards. A pioneer in its' day for a lot of things, especially interoperability amongst platforms. I had an earlier, shorter number, but couldn't login after a reinstall once, so setup another account. That's the one that stuck all those years.

Quick last couch update for this week. I'm off to see some Elfes and Hobbits this weekend. :)

I'd like to finish this before attending the convention next week. Or I'll do some more at the booth. Will see...

This looks really cool. An e-paper like screen but running at 60fps and apparently no ghosting? Can’t wait to see this in person.
