Today is my 21st wedding anniversary. On our first wedding anniversary, we were pretty broke, so hubs made me homemade coupons for massages, but he spelled it wrong, so I got a handful of printed out coupons for 1 Hour of Messages. So, every year since I get something like this:
It cracks me up when people say that people with ADD and ADHD don't actually need their meds, they are just addicted to Adderall. Have they even met a person with ADD or ADHD?
My friends forget to take their meds all the time!
@RickiTarr People who don’t know what they’re talking about should just shut TF up about other people’s challenges. My hubs can barely get through a workday if he skips his ADHD meds. Let me at ‘em. 😠 Judgmental snobs.
I used to babysit a lot, and I was kind of famous for getting kids to try foods they normally wouldn't. I was never pushy about it, just included them in the shopping/harvesting/cooking process, and asked them to try a little bite of everything, and to remember that your tastebuds change as you age, so keep on trying stuff.
This backfired on me occasionally though. Once as an adventure, we went to a Japanese restaurant, and I ordered the kiddos some Katsu (who doesn't love something fried with dippy sauce), and got myself a plate of sushi rolls and sashimi. Well, since I always asked them to try one bite of something new, they looked at me expectantly, so I let them try a bit of each. Turns out they were all in for sushi, and those little nerds ate most of my plate, and then they always wanted to go. Kids, I don't have sushi money every day!
Have y'all ever had someone act like you were hurting them somehow by just liking a food?
Any time I buy or make kimchi, my Mom says it's so gross and she doesn't want any and just on and on. I never offer it to her, or make group food with it, but for some reason she seems offended by it, and I don't know why.
@RickiTarr I'm a vegetarian. So yes, I have. Just like every other vegetarian and vegan. What we choose to eat, and more importantly, what we choose not to eat, is often taken as a personal affront, if not an outright attack by some people.

> Much better than for instance Voyager, which was not only rubbish, it was insulting rubbish
There's no accounting for taste. I rewatched all the TNG era shows a few years ago. To me, TNG, DS9 and Voyager all held up really well. Even Enterprise was better than I gave it credit for at the time, although it's definitely the weakest of the 4.
One pattern I noticed across all 4 is that the first season was the weakest. It took them a full season to find their feet.

Was my favourite part of Voyager. Whereas 7 of 9 was basically Data-with-boobs, the Doctor's situation made for an entirely new kind of character arc. Where he already had all the personality and sense of self a human has, but even more limitations as a technological artifact. Watching him negotiate with the crew to be treated as a peer, and slowly increase his freedom of movement was fascinating to me.
Sometimes the way people phrase things is so telling. For instance, telling women they should be "taking care of" their husband and children. Another adult doesn't need taken care of like a child, what you want is for women to be a Sex Mom.
@RickiTarr What I want to know is...when they get women barefoot pregnant and in the kitchen....how is that going to work when it takes two incomes just to survive?
@RickiTarr So a dude who needs his wife to take care of him? Yeah that's gross to me.
My mom would iron Dad's clothes, and would get up at 3am if she had to to make sure he didn't "leave the house hungry", a thing that never ever happened. Fix yourself a fucking sandwich, my man. Iron your own clothes, too.
From what I could tell, she was a servant in a lot of ways. Because of that, I didn't even want her to do anything for me as a kid. I can't stand it when people try to (s)mother me.
