I've just migrated all my blog posts from #Substack to #Ghost.

If you are tempted to do the same, I can assure you the process is super simple - especially when using Ghost (Pro).

All you have to do is export your Substack data and then go to Ghost Settings → Advanced → Lab -> Substack Migration... the process takes just a few minutes, it's all drag and drop.

Eureka moment of the day: I finally realized why I love #Mastodon so much more than #Threads and #Bluesky in this post-bird-site era (RIP blue bird).

✨✨✨ Hashtags and lists make such a big difference - they are absolute must haves for me ✨✨✨

I also gotta thank @ivory and @IceCubesApp for powering such phenomenal third party apps.

I only have 3% of the followers I used to have in the other place but enjoying the experience so much more. Thank you @Gargron for creating this space

#LEGO’s « retro camera » 3-in-1 set (31147) is absolutely magnificent…

I actually decided to go a step further and to customize the camera to make it look like my #Olympus Trip 35 (which had been custom made in yellow). Loving the result 💛

If anyone has suggestions about the LEGO pieces I’d need to make the lenses match, I’m all ears (cc @cazmockett)

🌶️ take of the day:

People on #Threads rave about its new Tweetdeck-like web client... which is limited to a few default columns. No list support.

Meanwhile #Mastodon has:

• lists
• real (+ multiple) hashtag support
• a chronological feed
• a PHENOMENAL web client (@cheeaun's @phanpy)
• brilliant 3rd party apps like @ivory and @IceCubesApp

AND it doesn't rely on advertising or #surveillancecapitalism.

I swear I'm gonna make it my mission to get my old network to move over here

I really appreciate all the kind words of support, sometimes it feels like I only see negative feedback and while I usually take that in good stride and strive to resolve the underlying issues...

I am only human, and sometimes that negative feedback stings more than usual

LOVE LOVE LOVE @phanpy and its"catch-up" feature. @cheeaun is a genius in my book!

It's so smart to sort contacts with a photo and by decreasing number of posts.

That said, I may blame Chee Aun for making me spend much more time on #Mastodon... Phanpy's interface is just so beautiful 🤩

One of my most popular websites went from being under attack from brute force attempts (100+ a day) to now receiving lots of spammy comments from addresses associated to crypto. I wonder if you experienced the same thing?

I've been thinking of starting a new #GhostIO newsletter as a guide to encourage more women, PoC, creatives, activists, social entrepreneurs, etc. to join #Mastodon. You know, my people from the other place.

Problem is: I can't come up with a clever name for it. Out of desperation I've turned to:

• elephant glossary terms
• #Gemini and #ChatGPT !

Still, no ideas.

Not elephant-related, but I own the URL + social handles of "a sea change". I like the concept of a big transformation. Thoughts?

I've been offline most of the week so apologies if you already discussed this, but the French government's report on children and screen time is such a positive boost for #Mastodon.

It recommends that at the age of 15 teenagers could start using "ethical" social media platforms - meaning Mastodon (but not Instagram, Snap or TikTok).

Journalist @realjuddlegum is arguing on Threads that the app is actively suppressing the reach of accounts that post political content. Not posts but ACCOUNTS: https://www.threads.net/@realjuddlegum/post/C7jbkvlsw-t

I can't think of a better reason to migrate from Threads over to #Mastodon.

There is no shadow banning here nor algorithmic shenanigans. Plus Mastodon has much much better features (lists, hashtags, 3rd party apps).

The only thing Threads has going for it is the number of users. I just wish they'd all move here

I wonder if #privacy experts on here have any views on social media platforms bypassing privacy controls and using phone accelerometer data for #ads?

I have Meta apps installed on an empty « burner phone » that is always home. Different Apple ID, etc.

I keep getting Instagram ads for « walking workouts » showing large women my age working out at home. Does Meta think I never leave my place?!?

(For the record, I average 10k+ steps daily and if anything I’m slightly underweight) 🤔

Another week, another attempt to transfer my #Signal messages to a new iPhone.

I've got 30GB of data (reason: 3 years of baby photos + videos shared with family members 😅) and the estimated transfer time is 27 HOURS.

The 2 phones (old & new) need to be near each other, touching, with the Signal app open, for the entirety of the transfer. I've failed previous transfers by doing something as simple as turning off an alarm, ugh.

So I need to use a THIRD phone while this happens. Wish me luck!
