As a Jew who does not identify as a Zionist because of many aspects of the modern state of Israel, but also does not identify as an anti-Zionist because her PhD in Modern Jewish Thought taught her that Zionism is not one thing but a diverse and complex set of often contradictory ideas developed by an oppressed people exiled from their historic homeland...this is not a good time to be reading comments on TikTok.

[Edit for context: did some early streams of Zionism contain racist and colonialist ideas? They sure did! Did all of them? No! Unfortunately because of historical exigencies, those versions have largely fallen by the wayside].

During #2023 I read “superhero fatigue” ad nauseam as a cause for #MCU films performing increasingly bad with audiences

So I rewatched them, Iron Man to Thor Love and Thunder

My personal takeaway was that most of the early ones are still highly enjoyable

My problem with every film after Eternals is that they are impersonal statements with badly composed stories where I saw nothing to get invested in. That’s not fatigue, but executive decisions

A Penn donor talked about rescinding a $100 million donation, because Penn is improving its DEI and he didn't like that.

After Magill fell into the GOP trap by flubbing that answer, the donor rescinded the donation pending a new president.

Right-wing framing is that the new president will be someone that is "Not anti-semitic." Left framing is that the new president will be "Someone that speaks with clarity on protecting Jewish students." Both slightly off.

The new prez will likely be anti-DEI

Reasons I have been woken up at 3 a.m. three out of the last five days:

A. The aforementioned man having a mental health crisis walking up and down my street screaming. Does the Street Crisis Team work 24 hours? Because obviously calling the police is not what to do in that situation.

B. Arrival of garbage truck (yes, at 3 a.m.) making me realize I needed to go and put out our bins.

C. My smoke alarm chirping, which necessitates holding down a painful button many times, which causes the alarm to make multiple louder, more aggressive noises before it finally stops.
