Happy if you're into that sort of thing?

When it looks like fluffy snow, it's not.

I will continue today, to reduce roof weight where possible. There's just too much snow to get around the back.

So, we're fine, but I'm lucky we can drive for groceries. Most people east of here, can't get to their cars.

@Rasta Stay safe and pray for an early spring!

COVID Update for January 24, 2024: Risks Declining, but They Are Not Low (1/7🧵 )

risks have declined, but they are not low yet. According to wastewater data, COVID risks have declined one-third in the past three weeks. They are, however, 5x higher than our 2023 lower point last June. The trend should continue, and the risks of crowded public spaces should be much lower by mid-February. Until then, please consider some small changes in behavior or precautions. https://biobot.io/data/

The Annapolis Valley region of Nova Scotia is one of the province's most fertile farming areas and is certainly best known for its apple orchards.

There is nothing as lovely, or as fragrant as those first apple blossoms in spring! The promise of a harvest in the fall springs from the humble beginnings of an apple blossom https://fineartamerica.com/featured/humble-beginnings-karen-cook.html?newartwork=true

St. John's Anglican Church is located in Lunenburg.

An outstanding example of Carpenter Gothic Architecture, In November 2001, the church was damaged by fire, but was restored and re-dedicated in 2005

Dettlieb Jessen donated this bell to the church on August 9 1814. Cast by the Whitechapel Foundry in England the bell tolled for 185 years before being so heavily damaged by the fire in 2001 it was unable to ring ever again. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/the-jessens-bell-of-lunenburg-karen-cook.html

Nova Scotia in Autumn. When the sun is shining, reflecting shadows and silhouettes on the leaves as they wait for their time or opportunity to fall, they are lovely. The color is not as vivid or bright as it was during the summer, but a more subdued or gentle color. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/the-faded-woods-karen-cook.html

This adorable Clydesdale foal is less than a week old, and finds all this attention quite tiring!

Clydesdales are the gentle giants of the horse world. Known world wide as the Budweiser horses, they are still considered a working horse on farms and in country fairs or exhibitions where they are used in pulling competitions as well as cart pulling https://fineartamerica.com/featured/safe-with-mom-karen-cook.html

the tiny seaside community of Morden hugs the shores of the Bay of Fundy. I could hear the water running in Moody Brook, that cascades from the North Mountain, seemingly disappears into the rocky shoreline before being absorbed in the Bay of Fundy.

A small spray of evergreen boughs, tied with a burlap ribbon and a touch a red was decorating the clapboard shingles of the old homestead, Rosebank Cottage, at Ross Farm Museum in . In the window were handmade candles, carefully dipped and drying as part of the museum's dedication to showcasing life in the 19th century. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/christmas-window-karen-cook.html

The Wile Carding Mill Museum site is located in Bridgewater

Built in 1868, this mill which is powered by water from the Sandy Brook, as it pours over the waterfall was still in use 100 years later.

Wool carding is a manufacturing process by which wool is cleaned, untangled and readied for use for textiles.

During the 19th century, they employed unmarried women to run their machinery. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/wile-carding-mill-karen-cook.html

The White-Breasted Nuthatch is one of my favorite songbirds to spot! Known for their distinctive calls and ability to descend down a tree trunk and hang upside down to eat on seeds and insects.

The term nuthatch refers to their ability to crack open seeds with that sharp bill. Did you know a flock of nuthatches is called a jar? https://fineartamerica.com/featured/white-breasted-nuthatch-karen-cook.html

  • It is always a wonderful day when you can spot a Monarch butterfly!

Her wings perfectly extended to show off her lovely orange and black colors, she gently rests on a stalk of goldenrod.

Also called the Milkweed butterfly, the Monarch is an endangered North American Butterfly. Loss of habitat and food have made this long distance migratory wonder of nature at risk of disappearing. https://fineartamerica.com/featured/the-monarch-and-the-goldenrod-karen-cook.html

In an effort to ward off the bitter cold of a winter day in Nova Scotia, this gentle dove has ruffled her feathers and huddles in a pocket of snow as the snowflakes swirl through the air. .
