So much energy!

In eastern Rajasthan (specifically within Meena/Gurjar communities), two neighboring villages are invited to participate in Kanhaiya Dangal. This ceremony uses Kanhaiya songs to strengthen their unity.

Medeas (the MCs) guide each village through lyrics and musical flow to make connections. The goal being mutual harmony.

Artist Bryce Hudson has been collecting 20th century electronics with interesting designs. His collection is quite fascinating to me, as a fan of both science-fiction and design.

He calls it “space age” which is a good name. I find it reminiscent of mid-century modern aesthetic.

The situation itself, that a white man who hailed himself a great ally was privately a bigoted racist, is not a surprise. That happens a lot. But it’s repugnant when someone thinks their publicly-exposed “private” comments exonerate them from their wrong doing.

“Unfortunately…comments which I never intended to share publicly have come to light.”

But you said them. That’s who you are. Publicly or privately.

@KweVictoria it’s been in our yard for about 17-ish years and I have no idea. It doesn’t produce fruit or anything. It just brings us joy when it blooms every spring for a couple of weeks. I should find out.

When you visit the paleontology exhibit and your favorite thing was the collection of dinosaur movie posters. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The exhibit at the OMSI in Portland, OR is really cool. No doubt. If y’all are nearby, give it a go.

@Rycaut @cainmark yeah, I love that! I had a membership with the Portland Art Museum a while back and learned about this. I was able to get into a museum in Chicago with my PAM membership. I think that’s just the coolest thing.

One of my favorite bands right now is Hermanos Gutierrez, an instrumental band from Zurich. They are two brothers of Ecuadorian/Swiss heritage.

Their sound is dark, slow, and somber. They craft beautiful rhythms with latin influence, but it’s not latin music. It’s quite unique.

I’m stoked for their new record, slated to be released in June.

@elaterite in two times in my life I’ve had opportunities to view pictographs/petroglyphs. It’s one thing seeing them in a photograph. It’s downright surreal seeing them in person, right in front of you. What a gift that you were able to find these.
