The final version of the is now public and it seems the risks we worried about all last year have been addressed.

Source-available proprietary software has been delivering its users look-but-don't-touch lock-in since at least 2004 when the Wikipedia page was written. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Source-available_software

It is only appearing popular now because so many businesses have succeeded leveraging open source and now have business pressure to progress to the end of the rights-ratchet. Relicensing old versions on a timer adds nothing if the code is actively developed.

I'm curious what @doctorow and the EFF think about how Mazda's lawyers are using the in this instance. I'm not an American, but this feels like they're over reaching in hopes of bullying a small, open source integration out of existence.

@kenguest
A quick read suggests it is baseless bullying that would fail if pursued in court, although to be sure a longer study would be needed.

I have sympathy with the volunteer maintainer and might well respond the same way myself, but would like to see a fork backed by a well resourced entity like @eff stand up to Mazda and force them to prove why their DMCA takedown is not fraudulent.

I get that you have to rebrand every now and then. I'm in the “I’ll get used to it" camp.

But really, the use of negative space in the new Nationwide logo is odd. My brain sees the "penguin of doom" more than the house.

(For non-UK folks, this is the recent rebrand of a national organisation who are a member-owned financial organisation)

So tired

I don’t care about Eurostar sustainability. What I care about is that capacity is too low and prices too high

Fixing those are the only things that matter

webmink,

@jon
Won't fixing Eurostar capacity require a change of UK government (and probably electoral system)?

I note that Google Maps can find, but obviously not ticket, a viable route for that pair. I've been tending to use them to find options then switch to national sites to book.

Tell me what international train trips you’ve struggled to find or book - and I’ll ask these platforms why they can’t solve these problems!

@jon
All of them need to allow long journeys to specify a break (list of where, latest break time, earliest restart time). Unlike flying almost any complex journey I take requires it.

    When your GP writes to you saying "please book an appointment to discuss your results"...

    Would you assume:-

    1. They have results to discuss
    2. The results are such that a discussion is needed

    I did. And then the appointment cannot be for 3 weeks. Cannot even get a call with GP to discuss sooner. Basically "they know what is wrong with me and won't say for weeks"!

    Some digging...

    They don't have results and won't for two weeks. They did not own up to this. But means may be no issue.

    Arg!!!

    webmink,
    @webmink@meshed.cloud avatar

    @revk
    I usually go into the NHS app and look at my clinical history to see if the results have showed up. My GP also has online access and the results also often shop up there with helpful links to online references.

    In the house for testing: Nomad's new $110 130W, 3-port USB-C charger; sweet little $25 ChargeKey USB-C cable, with nice magnetic closing clasp; and $50 3m Kevlar USB-C cable, super beefy. They all have excellent build quality, but note that the charge cables only support slow USB 2.0 data speeds.
