Hey keebinetters and fediverse, what are your favourite kbin/fediverse magazines (communities)?

Lets make a thread to post our niches that we have found here. Big magazines are ok too.

I'll start: /m/mechanicalkeyboards, so glad it migrated here!

The one I'm most excited about once federation works properly again on is /m/simpleliving@lemmy.ml

This originally on reddit community was awesome, and I believe the original mod created it in lemmy. Can't wait to access it!

I aim to separate general mycological topics from ID requests, because the latter clogged up the sub back in the former homeland and was moderated much too laissez faire for my taste.

Somehow I feel like people who understand fungi should have an easier time understanding the Fediverse as well. All these instances you see popping up everywhere are somehow connected and all part of the same whole, even though they could appear far apart.

I see a bright future for these communities.

Excuse my ignorance, I had never heard of DCS before and googled it, is it like a combat version of MS FlightSim? Looks cool and guess found something that might require me to upgrade my poor hardware.. Thanks for the magazine suggestion!

Yeah! DCS is great. It's a combat flight sim that, while ultimately it is a game, is study level for certain airplanes. I've never been more excited to memorize a 30 step procedure than when I started learning to play this. lol

Wanted to say thank you for the link, and also for the instructions there to tell me how to follow from kbin. Although I had to drop the initial ! to find a subscribe button. That is probably user error. fediverse is confusing af tbh

It takes awhile to get into it, but you'll get there!

The biggest difference with syntax is that lemmy uses the !exclamation mark and kbin uses the @at sign to link communities.

    I created /m/floaf for cats which are both floofy and doing a catloaf. Then I didn't see the more traditional /m/catloaf and /m/floof, so I created those too.

    There are really only a handful of niche reddit communities I'm worried about losing (it's surprisingly hard to connect with ~50,000 other people who all enjoy your same little hobby across the world) so I'm thrilled someone decided to kick-off a replacement for the audiodrama sub over here on

    I pronounce it as Koh-bin because that's how the letter K is pronounced in my language.

    I just made that up, was split between kiibiis, kibineers, and keebinetters. But like @JohnnyMcDank said it makes more sense to pronounce it kay/key.

    Awesome! Thanks! Also looks like there is a @cscareerquestions magazine, hopefully someone who was on r/RemoteWork and r/CareerAdvice will spin up those here or elsewhere in the fediverse. I know that some subreddit mods did start their subreddits on Lemmy and Kbin.

    Yess, subscribed! As someone who still can't make cookies in the oven without adding too much butter and ending up with one oven tray sized cookie, I need this community to keep me motivated.
