If Greta is thrown in prison while oil executives continue to walk free, I sure hope people start burning things down. I mean, burn it all down for all I care at this point. We’re being led by absolute fucking muppets.

@aral we don't need to burn it down, because that would make the situation worse. Let's hold the people responsible actually accountable. Fucking up their property won't do anything. Well, yes. But not in the long run. Their own physical bodies have to be put at risk put in danger for them to maybe want to change. And if they continue, well... For some it's already too late.

@aral I fully agree with the sentiment in this post and also I'm chagrined that "muppets" has somehow become an insult, because The Muppets are one of the greatest purest most wholesome and good things this world has been blesst with.

@aral I take issue with your use of “Muppets” as a negative/insult… Besides now being owned by Disney, Muppets are very much on the side of socialism and climate justice. The world would be a better place if everyone tried to be more like The Muppets.
@sjmulder@aral No it is not. To be sentenced to jail for something like that requires that your actions might have resulted in severe consequences.
She did not follow the orders by the police. If you do not they can arrest you and you will most likely be convicted of the misdemeanor and have to pay a fine.
She did her task by getting attention and could have avoided it by just walking away a few meters. She decided not to. Her choice. Her consequence.

Instead of just jumping all over the place with money from others who work, just to shout about things that we all already know and mostly things that really do not matter?
Make a real difference. Work in a restaurant or teach in a school or something.

@aral A healthier choice might be to just fuck it up, rather than burn it, so it literally can’t be used. There may be ways. And we should do that anyway. Not just for Greta, but for all of us.
@aral not that I want to see Greta in jail, but the opportunity for an appeal to go all the way to the Supreme Court of Sweden or the European Court of Justice, has a chance of embarrassing the establishment
