Public service message to everyone using :

  1. Mastodon is not the only software used in the fediverse. There are many other options you can try, while still interacting with the same people.

  2. Mastodon is not where most of the innovative fediverse design happens. All those features you want, like quote posts and better search? Other fediverse apps already have them.

  3. Sometimes all you need to do is use your Mastodon account with an app that isn't the "official" one.

mirko,

@strypey And sometimes Mastodon is just the best option for you. Without an app at all, just a web browser. 😎

Oh and happy 15th birthday for tomorrow !

Here's the 14th birthday post from a year ago:

Maybe I'll have time tomorrow morning to do something about a similar post?

Feel free to add notable events for the fediverse community here so I remember to include them:

@strypey Do you know of any good web frontends for ActivityPub C2S? I'd love to find a nice simple one.

@OpinionatedGeek
I don't know that ActivityPub C2S has been implemented yet. Most micro-posting software uses the Mastodon C2S API instead. The link I posted for apps in the post has a simple chart showing which software they work with.

@strypey Yeah, I saw that. But since I'm trying to implement C2S on my wee server, I was hoping there was a decent web C2S client I could use. Ah well, thanks!

chava,

@Geoff
I've been keeping an eye out for an AP C2S client for mobile or desktop or web... with no such luck.

I've known that streams and epicyon (servers) both have some support for AP C2S but haven't been able to try it due to no real AP C2S clients out there.

This is one of the drawbacks of the popularity of Mastodon; developers gravitating towards one project's implementation (Mastodon API) instead of collaborating on the AP C2S standard.

This is great news. The reason app devs give for not implementing it, when I've asked them about it, is that none of the servers do. Now that there are 3 servers to test against (what's yours called @OpinionatedGeek?), we're in a better position to convince at least one app dev to try. Maybe someone is already?

@strypey @chava @bob Heh - if it ever happens, it's called 'Capubara'.
