Even though the shift is small, it's big enough. It's incredible watching the Fediverse grow; first with the Birdsite flocking to #Mastodon, and now with #Lemmy and #Kbin growing in popularity (I only recently learned about Kbin)... this type of growth is enough to kickstart more people coming over here.
I'm looking forward to #Tumblr maybe joining sometime soon (oh, the memes you can see!), maybe some prominent Twitch people will try out #Owncast, maybe I can get some of my family over here...
@AudraTran@blake I wouldn't call it a replacement for Twitch. It's a live streaming server you can use for whatever your needs are. Some people use it for Twitch-style streams.
I hear comments like yours a lot. The problem is I don't know how to convert words like "polish", "modern", "nice", or "proper" into actionable things. What is nice? What is proper? What is modern?

@owncast Yes well, we use generic terms because these are generic ideas. I am by no means a designer, haha! But generally you want to avoid any sharp edges, and use pastel colors with good contrast against the background. If you're looking for inspiration, you can look into Google's "Material You" theming:
@owncast I'm by no means an expert, but most people are used to Google's web.dev design standards. Rounded frames, simple colors, icon heavy. Something that can translate almost seamlessly into a mobile UI.
Though, again, I'm not an expert, I just like design. 😅
