@Gina Very poor transport network, far from everything, very difficult and expensive to repair. Grape vine is hard with bad income.
And let's think about that no one in the area can afford such a price : you take their homes and their jobs.
@vieveca Isn't every one taking everyone's job nowadays?
It's kinda bizarre how we're advocating for a world with closed borders and without free travel - as if people are supposed to only live, work and die in the area they were born while there's a whole world out there. It's ridiculous.
Not saying I know the solution to the worldwide housing crisis, but surely restricting moving abroad can't be the answer.
@Gina@vieveca It’s not about moving abroad, it’s about moving where the standard of living is lower, because it’s "cheap for you" even if it’s twice what the locals can afford. Then it becomes the normal price of things, and the locals get priced out of home ownership. I say that as someone who moved somewhere where housing seems way cheaper than what I’m used to in the South.
@Gina
Maybe because of water issue
This région is impacted with very poor underground water level
There is restriction for use of water (not allowed to water down garden nor fill up swiming pools etc...) #ExcuseMyEnglish
@kris yeah but why is it so cheap??? It's not even that rural, it's like 45 min to Perpignan and an hour to Montpellier. Also right next to Narbonne. 30 min from the sea and next to a National Park. I'm just like ????
@Gina we call it and the gers the labrea tarpits of American tourists. Friends don't let American friends drive alone into the countryside with a checkbook...
@Gina it's not coastal Spain tho. I mean it can be gray and even dust snow. And the wind is no joke. It's legendary. It has proper names! I'm just north of Toulouse here and if you look at a growing zone map of France you'll see the peculiar frost dates distribution caused by huge mountains running between two oceans
@AugierLe42e@Gina « 24ha wasteland, formerly vineyards » exit the winery dreams (and don’t expect to plant ha of vines and be profitable with the local excessive production of bad wine combined with climate change that makes the land inhospitable to vines)
