US Army 79-83, spent four years in West Germany, (yeah I'm that old), lived off and on between Chicagoland and Quetzaltenango Guatemala. Worked back and forth between Osaka and the USA.

Now that my girlfriend will be working more from home, I REALLY need to figure out how to livestream in my bedroom.

I used to be able to livestream with her in the living room with me during the pandemic, but her job has become a bit more hectic and she can be VERY loud.

The bedroom has limited space, but all I really need is a chair that's comfortable enough to sit in for a few hours and that folds up against the wall when I'm done.

You know, just invent something that doesn't exist yet.

So, when I was growing up, students at my high school described the devil horns hand gesture—i.e. 🤟or 🤘, sometimes 🤙—using the word “boggs.” It was used essentially the entire time I was in school by most of the male student body, and I have no idea why they described it with this word. I have never heard it beyond my high school days.

Does anyone know why “boggs” was associated with this symbol?

It's an important story, not just for Gary residents, but for many American towns facing similar issues.

My first bank account was established at Gary-Wheaton Bank. Elbridge Gary started out in Wheaton IL.

One horse towns, such as Elgin IL, just up the road from Wheaton, faced the same problem - just not on the same scale as Gary. Gary failed for two reasons: bigotry and lack of foresight.

Other towns around Chicago had the foresight to turn themselves into bedroom burgs. Gary thought it could become Milwaukee.

I'm a consequentialist. People are what they do. The UN achieves nothing. Where's the UN in the Gaza situation? All that concrete Hamas hijacked to build their tunnels, all those firebases in southern Lebanon for Hizb'allah, those 8000 men and boys in Srebrenica, the dog's dinner they've made of Sudan and Somalia.
